💛3rd grade has been amazing with their social committee duties! Thank you, Gretchen, for hosting our staff party on Saturday. It was a ton of fun! Your team has done a great job caring for our entire staff this year.

💙Thank you for participating in a powerful half-day of learning this past week. Our grade-level teams tackled important work that is bringing clarity to our instruction on a district level.

💛Thank you for using the office passes!

💙Zach will leave for college in January. Keep your ears open for a new lunch monitor. Best wishes on your next step in life, Zach!

💛Please be sure to be accurate with your daily attendance count. Note the time that late students enter the classroom in the comment section. With attendance letters going out this year, we don't want discrepancies in the number of tardies within families.

💙Abby, Heather, and Lara have been busy learning more about Early Math. Check out this video that explains the vision of MAISA's Early Math.

💛Be sure to visit the book fair and use your teacher coupon!

💙Thank everyone who volunteered their time today at the holiday breakfast. What a wonderful event for our families. We continue to build a collaborative, caring, inclusive school community. You all rock!

💛A special thank you to our support staff that is doing the heavy lifting each and every day. Our students appreciate the support they receive throughout the day. I especially appreciate the times you join me for restorative conversations. You help our students feel heard and supported.

Holte Bosse Advertising Team

We’ve purchased and received brand-new winter coats, hats, and gloves that we would like to give to children who need them this winter. Enclosed with this letter are flyers for you to send home with the children in your class. Their parents or guardians can either sign up their child to receive a donation or assist in our efforts to give back to the community.

Clarification for Sub Postings

We are fortunate to have so many professional learning opportunities within our district. Sometimes it can be confusing as to who is posting the absence. To ensure that we aren't left without subs, let's use these guidelines. Many other days will arise--those, we can decide together!

Office Postings:

  • IEP coverage
  • Grade-level release days

Teacher Postings:

  • Professional Conferences
  • Discretionary Days
  • Sick Days
  • Family Illness

Remember to post illnesses early so that we have as much time as possible to find a sub.

Stop the Bleed Training

As part of our yearly professional development, our staff will participate in the STOP THE BLEED training. This training will guide staff through the three methods of bleeding control. Each participant must complete the online portion with a passing score of 80%. It will take about 20-25 minutes to go through.

For the online training, you will enter your email address, view the online course, then take a short 7-question quiz. Upon completing this, an "Online Course Confirmation" will be sent to your email. This confirmation will be shown to complete the hands-on skills check-off for the in-person portion of the training, which will occur following winter break.

We will use 30 minutes of our discretionary time for this training. Please complete the online course by January 9th

Dec. 22nd

The last day before winter break is always a busy one. Many more details will follow, but you can count on a few events.

  • Holiday concert at the high school for grades 2 - 5. We typically arrive back at school between 10:45 and 11:00.
  • An all-school movie at the end of the day, beginning at approximately 2:30, to provide time for you to clean and organize your classroom space before leaving for break.
  • Winter parties can be planned around those events.

The Christmas Dilemma

The Christmas Dilemma

Each year, educators face the December dilemma: How will they address religious holidays and be inclusive of families' celebrations outside of Christmas? The end of the year tends to throw this problem into sharp relief, but of course it extends well beyond December as religious and cultural holidays occur throughout the year.

Here is a great learning opportunity if you are interested. This free professional development opportunity is being offered through KRESA. The goal is to help teachers build community and develop a sense of belonging. The training begins at 3:45 but perhaps you could have one colleague in your grade level log on while the other two teachers get kiddos out the door. If we think creatively, people who would like to attend may be able to. Let me know your thoughts if several of your grade level colleagues would like to attend.
