Fairview News for the 2025-2026 School Year!
Calendar:
Highlights and Appreciations:
Spelling Bee!
Congratulations to the all the students who competed in our Spelling Bee on Friday afternoon. I am so incredibly proud of each and every one of the students who worked hard, practiced, dedicated themselves, were vulnerable to do something new and challenging. It is not easy to get up in front of a crowd and have the pressure of spelling an unfamiliar word. We have two students who will be representing Fairview in the district spelling bee on Saturday, February 21st.
A very special thank you to Coach Holden for taking this task on so that our students can grow in their academics, exhibit resilience, and experience a new challenge. We appreciate you Coach Holden for being a Fairview Dragon Rock Star!
Thank you to the BOE!
This month I want to highlight people we are appreciative and organizations that support the Fairview Community. I'm starting off by being thankful for our Board of Education. Our Board of Education members serve our district with incredible dedication, thoughtfulness, and care—and as many of us know, it’s often a thankless job. I had the opportunity to meet with two Board Members this week and discuss Fairview in depth. They are so grateful to hear how hard our teachers, staff, and students are working every day. I also enjoyed the time to brag about all the amazing things we have going on in school, in the community, and why I love Fairview.
Coming Up:
Family and Teacher Conferences:
This week your teacher will be sending home a confirmation of your scheduled conference. Please prioritize showing up on time so they can stay on schedule. If you did not return your red form to schedule a conference, please reach out to your teacher via Dojo to get that completed before Wednesday. Teachers are also encouraged to reach out to you to schedule a conference. It is important we show our students that we are collaborating for their future.
During conferences if you complete your BINGO card and get it signed in all 5 boxes you can enter it for a raffle for a Walmart Gift.
Scholastic Book Fair:
During conferences we will have the Scholastic Book Fair going on in the library. Please stop by and shop to purchase a book for your student to take home with them. There is a BINGO card to complete during conferences so you can enter it in to a drawing for a gift card. Stopping at the book fair is one of the stops.

Middle School News: (Info for our levels 6-8 students)
Middle School Eligibility:
I have tasked the middle school teachers to talk to you about your students' eligibility record during conferences so you have an understanding on why they are , or were, ineligible. I want students to be successful in high school and completing school work is a vital part of school. I continually tell students, "It doesn't matter how good you are at soccer, basketball, volleyball, singing, acting, cheerleading. If you aren't eligible because of grades, you aren't participating." Please talk to your students about completing their class work and staying on top of their missing work. There is no reason for us to have two full classes of students ineligible at the end of the month because they aren't getting their work completed.

Online School Store

Fairview Initiatives and Specifics:
Fairview PK-8 and PBIS
Fairview is a PBIS school which means we carry the philosophy of using positive reinforcement for students. This philosophy is backed with years of research on how to speak, interact, motivate, and support students and children to make the right choices. To support our PBIS Philosophy we will use Class Dojo to reward students for making the right choice. When students don't make the right choice they don't earn a point. For more information on PBIS follow this link: https://www.pbis.org/
To help incentivize students to earn points, we will have an online school store where students can purchase items or experiences with their PBIS points. This will be discussed more at Back to School Night, during the first week of school, and at the first PTO meeting. Reach out if you have any questions.
Sign up for Class Dojo!
Class Dojo is an app you download to text and communicate with your students' teacher regularly. This is also a way for students to track the points they earn throughout the day for demonstrating RISE behaviors. Respect, Integrity, Service & Excellence are all character traits we teach our students in being amazing future leaders! When students earn points they can purchase items and experiences through our PBIS Online Store! Help your students by encouraging them to earn points and communicate with their teacher regularly! Sign up information will be available at Back to School Night!
Birthday Bash!
To alleviate classroom disruptions, and interfere with instructional time Fairview PK-8 established Birthday Bash. This is a way for students to be recognized on the first Friday of every month and celebrate with their classmates. Families are encouraged to bring a healthy treat for their class in the month their student has a birthday.
**August birthdays are celebrated in September. Also, June & July birthdays are celebrated in May.
Dragon of the Month!
Dragon of the Month is a way for teachers to recognize one student who goes above and beyond. The first Thursday of the Month we will invite families of students who are being recognized to join us for a celebration after school. Each teacher will give a 1-2 minute speech about their student, we will have cookies and refreshments, and a wonderful picture opportunity. It means so much to our students for families to show up, and support their students' success! This year we are pumping up the celebration by including an ice cream or sweet treat celebration on Friday during lunch. Please, encourage your student to be the Dragon of the Month!

New Student Academy was a success last year so we are continuing this program as new students enroll throughout the school year. We believe it helps support our new students, and families, start school prepared and ready to begin their Fairview journey!
