LMS Friends,
So sorry for our delay with the Middle Scoop this past week. We are glad to get it out for you this week with all of our happenings in and around LMS!
There is much going on as we wrap up the year! The end to the 21-22 year will be here before we know it!
A big thank you to the Student Council and LMS PTO who celebrated our staff through Appreciation Week last week. From putting together notes, assembling spring mugs with goodies, and fulfilling amazon wish list items, so many were grateful for the kindness and appreciation.
We were excited recently to host our drama show at LMS. Our students did a marvelous job and were very pleased with their performance.
If you are interested in summer camp opportunities, there are tons of options in the community news section. There are all kinds of great opportunities we pass along in each Scoop when we hear about them!
We hope you have a great rest of the week! Our next Scoop will come out on the 27th of May just in time for information on all end of year activities!
Regards,
John P. D'Entremont, Principal

End of Year Events
It’s hard to believe, but we are getting ready to begin our focus on end of the year events! It’s a very exciting (and maybe a little nerve racking) time of their LMS journey. We are super excited to get back to some of our past traditions. Please begin to discuss and mark off your calendars for the following activities:
June 10th - 8th Grade Dance/Social
June 13th - Step Up Day
June 14th - Spring Carnival
June 15th - Early Release/8th Grade Recognition
In the upcoming weeks, we will be providing more information as we continue to work out these details. As much as we are bringing things back, we are still navigating some needed changes that we need to figure out.
In the past, leading up to these types of events, we have the below criteria that students need to meet in order to attend. Although most students will not be impacted, or need to consider this, we always want to be clear and provide the structure that can help everyone be successful.
Criteria:
No ISS or OSS or bus suspension
No more than 3 lunch/recess detentions
Not sent for removal to SRA more than 3 times
Students who do not meet this criteria will meet with administration to determine their eligibility to participate and parents/guardians will be involved.
Please stay tuned for more exciting news about our end of year events!

Latest Update by Nancy Pageau
Hello LMS Families,
We are seeing a spike in covid positive cases in our schools (see the district weekly covid dashboard) and across our community (Grafton County). This is a reminder to monitor your children daily for signs of illness. If any develop, keep them home and test for covid. Please send me the results of any covid tests done.
If you have a positive case in your home, please keep in mind that you need to inform the nurse in any schools where there might be siblings of the positive case, as depending on their vaccine status the sibling of a positive person might need to be quarantined.
All students who are vaccinated (primary 2 dose series) and are 12 years old and older are eligible for the booster vaccine 5 months after their second vaccine dose. They will not be considered “fully vaccinated” for quarantine purposes without the booster if there is a positive case in your home. I would highly recommend getting the booster dose if you wish to avoid having your child quarantined if there is a positive case in your household.
In general, the covid vaccines are still the best protection against covid and its variants. They have been proven to reduce illness symptoms and decrease hospitalizations. We are not out of the woods yet…
As always, please connect with me if you have any questions about our covid guidelines, any change/update in your child’s medical status or medical concerns about your child.

Voluntary Pool Testing Signing-Up

- Lebanon Middle School: 81ZM9C
What will happen if a pool comes back positive?
We will follow this process for unconfirmed or confirmed positive cases:
If by chance a pool comes back positive, we will notify the staff and the families of those students in the pool that there is an unconfirmed positive case.
Students/staff in the pool will be asked to monitor for symptoms and will be tested two days later.
After the follow-up testing, those in the pool will be notified of either the negative or positive result.
The person who tested positive will be asked to isolate and close contacts will be notified per the procedures we have been following since the start of the pandemic. The Superintendent will also inform the larger community of the positive test result.

HACTC Tech Camp
The HACTC is excited to offer our one-week Summer Tech Camp to middle school students again! We hope to see some Lebanon Middle School students here at the HACTC for camp this June.
Camp will be held June 20 - 24, 2022 in the mornings.
Some examples of past camp activities include: basic welding, changing a car tire, making homemade pasta and sauce, videography, photography, spa sciences, basic first aid/constructing a first aid kit, Cricut creations, Entrepreneur for a Day, Building a Toolbox, Community Service, and more. We will share this year's complete list of activities when we get closer to June.
We will offer bussing again for schools/towns that send 10 or more students, and will keep you posted once we start to receive camp applications. In years' past we have been able to offer a bus to Lebanon students.
Would you please distribute the attached flyer/application to your 6th, 7th and 8th graders about camp? It is posted here on our web site as well. Campers who attended last year may attend again this year if they are entering 8th or 9th grades - we will be offering new activities to participate in.
Thank you, and please let me know if you have any questions!
