Hound Dog Huddle
February 20, 2026
Principal's Message:
Happy Friday Hilton Families!
Huddles:
Our next Huddle is this Tuesday, February 24th from 3:10-3:45pm. Please have your child wear their grade level shirt for Tuesday. We will be focusing on the D.O.G.S. value of Determination. For this Huddle, students will be exploring many different careers, as next week is Career Week at Hilton, and discussing the determination required to help them follow their passion as they learn and grow. We will wrap up our week with our very special, Special Interest Day, where students will focus on the area of Health Care this year!
Lockdown Drill At Hilton Next Week:
Due to scheduling conflicts, we needed to reschedule our drill from January, so next week, we will have our second lockdown drill at Hilton. Our staff works closely with Officer Eccles (School Resource Officer at the High School), Deputy Thomson (School Resource Officer at Scranton), and local law enforcement to train and prepare each year on the most effective, multi-tiered supports to put in place to keep our students safe. Teachers will review the lockdown routine with students in age appropriate language so that they know what to do in case of an emergency. That being said, I know that while these drills are necessary, they can also cause some additional worry for students and I wanted you to be aware heading into next week.
4th grade Orchestra Field Trip:
On March 4, all Hilton 4th graders will travel to Hill Auditorium in Ann Arbor for a concert with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra! We will sing and play the jazz music we’ve been learning this trimester in music class. Permission slips came home this week; please sign and return these Monday. Also, donations are requested to cover the cost of tickets and buses. Here is the zeffy link to make those payments. (Donations to help students in need will be gratefully welcome, too!) For additional information, see Mrs. Delekta's 2/17 email.Neighborhood Reminders:
As a reminder, while the district has instated that we have no left turn out of the Hilton Elementary School parking lot during drop off and pick up times to alleviate more back ups, we do ask that you try not to cut through the neighboring subdivisions on your way out. We are getting reports of people speeding through these areas after leaving our parking lot. Thank you for your cooperation in this.
Warmly,
Erin Belanger
Hilton Elementary Principal
