Daisy Girl Scout Troop Plants a Beautiful Garden at Surrarrer
Daisy Girl Scouts Troop 71132, which is made up of Surrarrer students, proudly completed a meaningful service project that reflected the values and lessons they have learned throughout the year. Working together with kindness, honesty, and responsibility, the girls demonstrated the spirit of the Girl Scouts while making a positive impact in their community and school - planting a beautiful garden at Surrarrer! Through teamwork, creativity, and service, the project served as a culmination of the petals and badges they earned this year, bringing each Daisy value to life. Thank you to this Daisy Troop for giving back in a special way to your community!
SMS Track Student-Athletes Finish in 3rd Place at State Meet
Congratulations to SMS 8th graders Carleigh Cliche, Eden Krenek, Kasey Jungeberg, and Layann Suleiman on an outstanding performance at the Middle School State Girls Track Meet! These talented young ladies competed at the highest level finishing an impressive 3rd in the 4x200 relay (1:49.12) and 12th in the 4x100 relay with a personal best time (52.39). We are proud of their hard work, dedication, and the way they represented SMS with excellence and Mustang pride!
Butterfly Magic in the Muraski Kindergarten Classroom
Kindergarten students at Muraski have experienced nature's most amazing transformation! This year, they’ve watched painted lady caterpillars become beautiful butterflies. Before releasing the butterflies, they used a patio umbrella, a net, and a little innovation to give students the opportunity to discover details they'd never see otherwise. They also had a chance to hold flowers and watch the butterflies’ proboscis (a straw-like tongue!) unfold as they sip nectar. Thank you Ms. Northeim and Mrs. Gaul for bringing this hands-on learning opportunity to our students and creating memories that will stick with them for years to come!
Strongsville Middle School Hosts Unified Sports Track & Field Event
This past week, Strongsville Middle School hosted middle school and high school students from around the area at a Unified Sports Track & Field event. Unified Sports is a team sports program that brings people together. Unified Sports goes beyond sports training and competition to promote social inclusion and meaningful connections. Both SMS and SHS students enjoyed great events that included friendly competition, teamwork, and lots of smiles!

Mustang Spotlight - Linda Ali, Educational Support Aide at Whitney
Mrs. Linda Ali has worked at Whitney Elementary for the past four years in a number of different roles. Mrs. Ali recently accepted an Educational Support Aide position at Whitney to continue to positively impact students. She is a member of the Strongsville community and has two children who have graduated from Strongsville High School and two who are currently in our District.
“Working at Whitney for the past four years as a monitor has been a really great experience. I’ve had the chance to build connections with students and support them in a fun, positive way. I love being able to create a safe space during recess where kids can enjoy themselves. I’ve also really enjoyed working with the staff at Whitney. They make it such a great place to be. Subbing in different roles here has been a great experience too, and it’s helped me get to know the school even better. Our family has such a strong connection to Strongsville City Schools. Our family is very proud to be part of the Strongsville community - we’re proud Mustangs!”
Thank you Mrs. Ali for your efforts in helping to make Whitney Elementary the best place for our students to learn and grow! #ModelMustang
Singin' In The 'Ville Camp - Summer 2026
SHS Principal Bill Wingler is OASSA Zone 6 High School Principal of the Year
The Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators (OASSA) have selected the 2026 Middle School and High School Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year Zone Winners. The Zone 6 High School Principal of the Year is our very own Mr. Bill Wingler, Principal at Strongsville High School!
This Spring, the OASSA Board of Directors received nominations from the field, submitted by students, staff members, administrators, and colleagues who work with these talented school leaders each day. The OASSA Board, under the leadership of the Zone Directors then selected Middle and High School winners from each of the ten zones as their Principal and Assistant Principal of the Year. These Zone Principals and Assistant Principals of the Year are now finalists in the State level process, and later this year, the OASSA Board of Directors will select the four overall winners from this pool of highly talented Zone winners to represent the State of Ohio.
We wish Mr. Wingler the best of luck as he takes another step in his career journey - he has been named the Superintendent of Columbia Local Schools and will begin his new role for the 2026-27 school year.

Summer Turf Projects
The turf at Pat Catan Stadium and at the field at SMS will be replaced this summer. Work will begin as soon as all events at Pat Catan Stadium have concluded. The crews will begin at SHS and then go to SMS. If you see construction work occurring, please stay out of those areas until they are officially reopened. Also, please know that once completed, the SMS field will no longer be open for continuous use. Over the last 11 years, we have had continuous damage to the field and therefore we need to better protect it. A larger fence will be installed with a timed gate entry system. People may still use the field by following our facilities rental procedures.
ParentSquare Transition Begins June 1st
Starting Monday, June 1st, our district will begin using ParentSquare as our main communication tool instead of Remind. You may receive messages in Remind from your student’s teacher, coach, or advisor with directions for moving to ParentSquare.
