Welcome to September! 🐰💙

If you're new to Owens Elementary and we haven't met yet, I'm looking forward to meeting you! The next time you visit our school, please feel free to stop by and introduce yourself. And if you're a returning family, I would love the opportunity to reconnect with you too! One of my goals this year as principal is to create more opportunities to connect and speak with the parents and families of our Jackrabbits. Whether you stop by during parent lunches or join us for our upcoming Open House, I hope we have a chance to say hello and connect.

September is our first full month of learning and fun activities, and we want to make every school day count! Our student attendance goal is once again 95%. Thanks to your support, we met our goal last school year, and with your help, we hope to do it again this year. Every day matters!

This is also a great time to remind our students to stay focused, work hard, and demonstrate our H.O.P. expectations. Ask your child if they can tell you what H.O.P. means!

H.O.P. is an important part of our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program and helps us create a positive learning environment for all students. We appreciate your help reinforcing these expectations at home.

Si son nuevos en Owens Elementary y aún no hemos tenido la oportunidad de conocernos, ¡espero poder conocerlos pronto! La próxima vez que visiten nuestra escuela, no duden en pasar a saludar y presentarse. Y si son una familia que regresa a Owens, ¡también me encantaría tener la oportunidad de volver a conectar con ustedes! Una de mis metas este año como director es crear más oportunidades para conectar y conversar con los padres y las familias de nuestros Jackrabbits. Ya sea que nos visiten durante los almuerzos con padres o que nos acompañen en nuestro próximo Open House, espero que tengamos la oportunidad de saludarnos y conversar.

Septiembre es nuestro primer mes completo de aprendizaje y actividades divertidas, ¡y queremos aprovechar al máximo cada día escolar! Nuestra meta de asistencia estudiantil es nuevamente de 95%. Gracias a su apoyo, logramos alcanzar nuestra meta el año pasado y, con su ayuda, esperamos lograrlo nuevamente este año. ¡Cada día cuenta!

Este también es un buen momento para recordarles a nuestros estudiantes la importancia de mantenerse enfocados, trabajar arduamente y demostrar nuestras expectativas de H.O.P. ¡Pregúntele a su hijo(a) si puede explicarles qué significa H.O.P.!

Visitors are welcome to have lunch with their students on Wednesdays and Fridays!

Please bring your ID and sign in at the front desk.

SEATING

Seating is limited for visitors. You may only sit with your child at the visitor's table.

Your child's friends must remain with the teacher.

FOOD
Parents can only provide food for their personal child. Other children should eat what their parents sent them or from the cafeteria. Once lunch ends, your child should throw away what they have not eaten. Please do not send them back to class with sodas, etc.

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE
Please remain in the front office until 5 minutes before your child starts lunch. This helps with congestion at the visitor table. When your child's class leaves the cafeteria, it is time for your child to rejoin his/her class. Please turn in your "visitor sticker" to the front office when you depart.

ASIENTOS

Our local Chick-fil-A, at 8440 HWY 6 North, is partnering up with Owens Elementary to sponsor a Spirit Night. This is where a franchise donates a percentage of an evening's food sales back to a participating school.

Join us on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2026, get some delicious food for your family and help us raise some dough for our Owens students.

Nuestro Chick-fil-A local, ubicado en 8440 HWY 6 North, se ha asociado con la escuela primaria Owens para patrocinar una «Noche del Espíritu Escolar». En esta iniciativa, una franquicia dona un porcentaje de las ventas de comida de esa noche a una escuela participante.

Acompáñanos el martes 22 de septiembre de 2026, disfruta de comida deliciosa con tu familia y ayúdanos a recaudar fondos para nuestros alumnos de Owens.

Owens expectations for behavior are taught using our HOP Matrix: Hardworking, Ownership, Polite. We have a matrix for every area of the building to ensure students know what Jackrabbits HOP means, no matter where they go! Please review the classroom matrix with your child at home, so we can partner together in having consistent expectations for behavior at school.

Las expectativas de Owens en cuanto al comportamiento se enseñan mediante nuestra matriz HOP: Esfuerzo, Responsabilidad y Cortesía. Contamos con una matriz para cada zona del edificio con el fin de garantizar que los alumnos sepan qué significa el acrónimo HOP de Jackrabbits, ¡vayan donde vayan! Por favor, repasa la matriz del aula con tu hijo en casa, para que podamos colaborar y mantener unas expectativas coherentes en cuanto al comportamiento en la escuela.

MORNING ARRIVAL;

We open our front doors at 8:20 AM. If you drop your child off before 8:20 AM, there will be no supervision. Students are allowed to enter the building at 8:20 AM ONLY IF an adult is on duty. Instruction begins at 8:45 AM. Please help us begin instruction on time by allowing your child to ride the school bus or by dropping them off in time to walk to class and be in their seat ready to learn by 8:45 AM. Students who are car riders and walkers/bikers who arrive after 8:45 AM will be counted tardy.

Students who are tardy MUST BE brought into the building by an adult to be signed in.

Las puertas se abren a las 8:20 AM. No habrá supervisión antes de las 8:20 AM. Los estudiantes podrán entrar al edificio a las 8:20 AM SOLAMENTE si hay un adulto supervisando. Owens requires a handwritten note for any change of transportation. The note should state the student's full name, the date, the new mode of transportation, the date for the change to occur, and have the signature of the legal guardian.

There are two ways to change transportation:

1. Send a note in your student's backpack in the morning.
2. Drop off a note at the front desk.

ALL requests for transportation changes must be submitted by 3:00 p.m. to make a change for the same day.

For the safety of our students, no over-the-phone changes can be accepted.

Owens requiere una nota escrita a mano para cualquier cambio en el transporte. La nota debe indicar el nombre completo del estudiante, la fecha, el nuevo medio de transporte, la fecha en que se producirá el cambio y la firma del tutor legal.

Hay dos formas de cambiar el transporte:

All students living within the CFISD attendance boundary are eligible

for bus transportation.

Students on a voluntary transfer are not eligible for regular bus transportation.

al transporte regular en autobús.

All of Owens Student will receive their cafeteria badge and bus badge free of charge.

If one of these badges get lost or damaged, they need to be replaced for a fee.

All bus riders must have a bus badge!

Parents can pay by sending money with their student.

All students must have a cafeteria badge.
