Notes from our Nurses - Got Water? 💦
☀️ It’s Hot Out There — Don’t Forget Your Water! 💧
With these hot temps, it’s super important to stay hydrated! Drinking water throughout the day can help prevent things like headaches, dizziness, and nausea — no one wants that during class.
So bring your water bottle and sip often to keep your body and brain feeling great.
🚫 Just a heads-up: Please leave the giant, noisy bottles (yes, we’re looking at you, Stanleys) at home.
✅ Go for a bottle that’s quiet, easy to close, and won’t interrupt the lesson every time you take a drink.
Stay cool, stay sharp, and keep that water flowing! 💦😎
Please make sure that the water bottle you send with your student has their name on it somewhere and has a lid that flips/locks/closes (not a Stanley style cup with straw that doesn't fully seal).

🏈Pre-Athletics Updates🏀
Attire
Appropriate Attire for Pre-Athletics
Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,
As we begin the school year, we want to ensure that all students participating in Pre-Athletics are dressed appropriately for physical activity while also maintaining school dress code standards. Students are allowed to wear their Pre-Athletics clothing to school since it is first period. If the student’s pre-athletic clothing is within the school dress code, no additional action is required.
· Students will be asked to wear joggers/sweatpants over their shorts until the pre-athletic period begins (during drop off, breakfast, walking to homeroom class) prior to 1st period if the shorts do not meet NMS dress code requirements.
· No spandex - only shorts that are appropriate length are allowed without additional cover (e.g., longer shorts or sweatpants).
These guidelines are in place to promote a comfortable, respectful, and active learning environment for all students. Students not in compliance with the dress code may be asked to change. We appreciate your support and understanding.
Procedures
Pre-Athletics Procedures — Effective Monday, August 18, 2025
Students enrolled in Pre-Athletics must arrive dressed and ready to train at drop-off.
What to Bring
Small athletic bag (athletic tote, grocery bag, or similar) to hold the clothing worn to school that day, including shoes and an anti-perspirant stick.
Anti-perspirant stick is required. A combined anti-perspirant/deodorant stick is acceptable.
No aerosols or spray products of any kind are allowed in the locker room.
Arrival & Workout
~7:55 a.m. dismissal: Upon release from homeroom, proceed directly to the gym and take your assigned seat in the bleachers with your bag (containing your school attire).
Conduct: Hallways and bleachers are quiet, orderly zones—no running, shouting, or horseplay.
Supervision & discipline: Coaches will be actively supervising and will address misconduct immediately. Repeated or serious violations will result in disciplinary action.
Expectations: Pre-Athletics prepares students for junior high sports. Coachable behavior is required—listen, follow directions the first time, and show respect to teammates and staff.
Bags: Bags must remain in the bleachers for the duration of the workout and are not permitted on the floor or in activity areas.
After the Workout
Return to your designated bleacher spot, collect your bag, and proceed to your assigned locker room.
Changing time is limited to 10 minutes maximum.
No lockers will be assigned. All items must be kept in your bag.
After changing back into school clothes and shoes, return to your designated bleacher spot. Coaches will release and monitor students to their next class.
Schedule Changes
If the school schedule changes, coaches will notify students in advance. On those days, students may arrive in regular school clothes and do not need to bring a gym bag or Pre-Athletics clothing.
