7:50 first bell, students to class

7:55-3:20 school hours

After 7:55 students are marked tardy

Early Release days end at 1:20pm (first day of school)

Lunch Reminder: Add funds to your student's lunch account if they plan to buy school lunch on the first day.

Friday, August 21st: Marie Murphy students will practice our Tornado, Lockdown, and Fire Drills. If you have questions or require a child to opt out of the lockdown drill, please email Principal Ryan (ryane@avoca37.org).

Uniforms for PE: Students will need their PE uniforms the second week of school.

Marie Murphy Handbook

Marie Murphy follows policies and practices reviewed and implemented by the District 37 Board of Education. Please review the D37 Student-Parent Handbook before the start of the school year.

Drop-off Traffic Pattern

The safety of our students during drop-off and pick-up relies on our ability to work together as a community and follow the traffic maps. Please familiarize yourself with the traffic maps below prior to the first day of school.

Morning Drop-off: Parents picking up a child may only use the east entrance. The west entrance is for bus use only. Please pull into the lot and immediately turn right down the first aisle. Students should be prepared to exit their car by the main door.

We know traffic will be difficult in the morning. Please arrive by 7:45am or slightly before to ensure students are not tardy to school.

Pick-Up Traffic Pattern

Students will begin to exit Marie Murphy immediately at 3:20pm. Cars picking up a student may pull up to the front of the school or wait in 1 of the 3 rows of the parking lot. We will move traffic along as quickly as we can.

Please keep your eyes alert for children going to other cars as you drive out of the lot. In addition, be alert for e-bikes in parking spaces.

Lunch Reminders

Quest, our food service company, serves meals and beverages to our students. This year, Quest is transitioning from FD MealPlanner to MySchoolQuest for access to school menus and nutritional information. For your convenience, the attachment includes QR codes for both Apple (iOS) and Android users, allowing families to easily download the MySchoolQuest app and access menu information throughout the school year. Lunch includes an entree, side, fruit, vegetable and a milk or 8oz water. There are also several a la carte items for sale. Families can find more information as well as upcoming menus through the linked page. Additional updated information from Quest will be included in the next email.

Though we have Quest food choices during lunch, many Avoca West students bring lunch to school. We highly encourage waste-free lunches. To reduce waste, please consider the following as you pack your child’s lunch:

Please pack your child’s lunch in a reusable lunch box or bag (not paper or plastic bags).
Use reusable containers for sandwiches rather than foil, plastic wrap, etc.
Buy snacks in quantity and transfer them to a reusable container.
Put drinks in a child friendly thermos rather than sending throw-away juice boxes, etc.

From Marie Murphy to NASA! 🚀🪨

We love celebrating where a Marie Murphy education can lead. Congratulations to alumna MJ Moline, whose passion for geology began as a 6th grader on our Science Olympiad team. That early experience sparked a journey that recently led her to present her groundbreaking Mars research at NASA—a wonderful reminder of how the opportunities students experience at Marie Murphy can inspire lifelong passions and future careers. We are incredibly proud of MJ!
