THIS WEEK IN #HAYNation!

Hello from the Yelle.

It was a super busy week in #HAYNation! Report cards, parent-teacher conferences, BOOK FAIR, and so much more.

As I try to do each week, I use the big picture above to tell the story of the week in pictures for us here at the Yelle.

This week the Big Picture is all about the things we do around MCAS testing days. It highlights on the bottom row of pictures, our getting ready for ELA MCAS, practicing our reading, comprehension, and writing skills in many different ways in both grade levels. The top three pictures are how we start our MCAS Testing Days with time either outside or in the gym getting energized for testing, and then coming in to the cafeteria for an extended snack time with our friends. And finally the middle two pictures are two large groups of smiling young gentlemen and ladies holding up this week's #PositiveSignThursday with the message of how We Are Ready To Show What We Know on these MCAS tests. And from what we could see, our students' efforts were spectacular and hopefully do show what they know!

Yelle Spring 2026 MCAS Schedule

Our first leg of our 2026 ELA MCAS administration began this week

for all of our students.

All I can tell you is how proud I am of all of our students' effort!

All we ask is for them to do their best and take their time, and I believe,

that is exactly what they did!

You may not believe this but our students like our MCAS Days.

How might you ask?

Well, our students start their day with a morning Recess, then a Snack, then a couple of hours

set up for testing, then an Afternoon Recess and Lunch, with their Special happening in the

afternoon.

It's a day we just ask for our students to take their time and give their best effort.

That's all we ask.

Other than the testing, the day is very nice for them.

Please just wish your kids to do their best on those days.

That is all we ask.

Hello Yelle Families:

The HAY Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) hopes all families are enjoying the school year. We are always trying to make this another senational experience for our students!

The PTO sponsors monthly meetings, which are usually held the third Thursday of each month from 6-7PM in the HAY Library. The meetings could be changed if there is a calendar conflict with a school vacation or holiday and are usually moved to the Wednesday before or after. You can view on the HAY Calendar on the NPS website.

We look forward to seeing returning parents along with new faces from our fourth grade families!

Come join the meetings to hear what’s happening in your child’s school, how you can help out by volunteering, or ways for you to share an idea!

We have our Textile Drive happening later in the Spring after the Memorial Day Weekend.

So start planning that Spring Cleaning, as well as supporting our PTO!

Attention all students, here is your opportunity to do something good for others.

For the rest of this week all schools in Norton will be taking part in a clothes drive to benefit underserved and needy children throughout the state through the work of Project 351 and Cradles to Crayons. Please bring your gently used clothing items to school to be donated to those in need. Please make sure the clothes are for children only, and range in size from newborn all the way up to youth large.

In addition to doing something good, you have another reason to help out with this project. The winning grade level that brings in the most articles of clothing, at one school, will win an ice cream party for their efforts courtesy of your local Project 351 team!

Please do your part to help children in need and remember to bring in your clothing items to school for the rest of this week and good luck!
