Steck WeeklyAnnouncements10.23.26

Dear Steck Families,

It's hard to believe the end of first quarter is here and it's report card time. This is a great time to review your child's progress, celebrate successes, and talk about areas of growth.

District 204 provides elementary report cards through ParentVUE. Beginning October 23 at 4:00 p.m., you can view your child's elementary school report card through ParentVUE. After you log into your ParentVUE account, you will find the Report Card tab on the left. If you need assistance, please call the Steck office (630.375.3500). You can view the report card grading information here. This is also available through ParentVUE.

As always, our doors are open to you. Please contact your child's teacher with any questions or concerns at report card time and throughout the school year.

Enjoy the weekend!

Sincerely,

Dr. Pohlmann

Construction Projects at Steck

Starting next week, Steck will have some work done on the roof to install solar panels. We work closely with our district team to ensure a safe environment. All work and construction staff will be outside of our school. While there will be a temporary fence area with a gate to close the sidewalk at times, this area will be open for arrival and dismissal. There are no changes to our arrival or dismissal process. We will temporarily lose a few parking spots to allow for materials and project staff.

At this week’s meeting, the Board of Education approved the secure entry vestibule at Steck as part of the Safer, Stronger 204 capital program. Similar to previous secure vestibule projects, this work will occur over the summer following the 2026-27 school year. While the original Master Facility Plan included plans for an addition at Steck this summer, those plans are on hold for now as the district continues to evaluate budgets, enrollment projections, and construction feasibility.

Fall Dress Up Day

Students are invited to participate in our "Fall Dress Up Day". This day is designed to include all students and will include some fun, fall-themed activities in classrooms. Students can wear something fancy, a Halloween costume, Steck wear/school colors (navy/white), or something else. Students should be able to participate in the normal school day schedule with whatever they wear; attire should be something that can be worn to school and worn throughout the day. As always, clothing should be appropriate for school and not be a disruption to learning. Clothing and costumes that are not appropriate for elementary school will not be allowed during the school day. Students will not have time to change into another outfit or costume while at school. Costume masks, makeup, and accessories should be left at home. No part of a costume should include any look-alike weapon or depict violence. Costumes should not need to be plugged in or battery operated. Please save those extra touches for outside of school.

Fall Parade & PTA Fall Party

We are going to continue our tradition with a Fall Parade on October 31 at 2:00 p.m. (weather permitting). Families are welcome to visit Steck to watch the outdoor parade. We recommend walking to Steck or parking in the street due to limited parking in our lot. We ask that visitors spread out while here viewing the parade. The parade route is here. We will start at door 1 and go toward McCoy, around the back of the building, and back in door 12. Please find a spot that is comfortable for you anywhere on the parade route. Our parade is closely supervised by staff.

When the parade is over, students, staff, and PTA party volunteers return to classrooms for the Fall Party. All others visitors are asked to leave at that time. The PTA Fall Party includes fall-themed activities and a snack.
