Counselors Corner
Senior College & Future Planning
Our counselors have been busy meeting individually with all of our seniors to discuss college applications, post-graduation plans, and the exciting next steps in their journey. During these meetings, students received important information, resources, and guidance to help them navigate the college and career planning process.
October is an important month for seniors! We encourage students to work steadily on their college applications throughout the month rather than waiting until deadlines approach. Students should continue to check the online resources provided by the Counseling Department and reach out to their counselor whenever they have questions or need assistance.
Financial Aid: FAFSA
Families should also begin working together to complete the 2027–2028 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). Completing the FAFSA is an important step in determining eligibility for federal and state financial aid, as well as many types of college-based aid and scholarships. All free community college
We encourage parents and students to make FAFSA completion a priority and to work together to ensure all required information is submitted accurately.
As always, our Counseling Department is here to support you! Please don't hesitate to reach out to your student's counselor with questions about college applications, financial aid, or planning for life after graduation. We are excited to partner with you and your student during this important year!

WLW Is a Peanut-Free School
For the health and safety of all Warriors, Walled Lake Western is a peanut-free school. Please do not send any food items containing peanuts. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe and welcoming for everyone.
Electronic Device Building Expectation
In order to maximize learning opportunities and support student well-being, students are expected to place cell phones in a phone caddy in each classroom at the start of every class. The phone they place in their caddy should be their actual device and not an old phone! Students are also expected to have all headphones and earbuds removed and stored away during class.
Students are NOT permitted to take cell phones in the bathroom or when using a hall pass.
Parents/Families: Your student will have limited access to their cell phone during the school day. If you have an urgent matter, please contact the main office to get a hold of your student. 248.956.4400
If students fail to comply, devices will be stored in the office for the day. Repeated misuse will result in disciplinary actions. Your support and cooperation are appreciated!
Bicycle Riders
For our students that ride bikes to school:
There are now new bike racks in the front of the building that face Beck Rd.! Students should utilize this location to lock up their bike while at school. Any E-Bike riders should be walking their bikes on school sidewalks for the safety of those around them.
