Dear Mustang families,

As we begin our final push toward the STAAR assessment, we are excited about the growth our students have shown this year and confident in the hard work happening in every classroom. These last few weeks are about focus, consistency, and finishing strong.

We ask for your partnership during this important time — not by reteaching academics at home, but by helping ensure your child comes to school ready to learn each day. A good night’s sleep, a positive morning routine, arriving on time, encouraging words, and a calm, confident mindset make a tremendous difference. When students feel supported and prepared, they perform at their very best.

This season connects beautifully with our 7 Habits:

  • Habit 1: Be Proactive – We take responsibility for our actions and our effort.

  • Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind – We set goals and stay focused on them.

  • Habit 3: Put First Things First – We prioritize learning, attendance, and preparation.

  • Habit 4: Think Win-Win – School and home working together ensures success.

  • Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood – We listen to and support our children’s needs.

  • Habit 6: Synergize – When families and educators work as a team, we are stronger.

  • Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw – Rest, healthy habits, and balance help students perform their best.

Our students are ready. Our teachers are prepared. And with your continued support from home, we know they will walk into testing confident and capable.

Thank you for partnering with us as we help every child finish strong!

Dear Marshall Families,

As we continue celebrating Black History Month, I am highlighting the life and legacy of Harriet Tubman. Her courage, determination, and commitment to helping others connect strongly to Habit 1: Be Proactive. Harriet Tubman made brave choices, took initiative, and acted with purpose, even in the face of tremendous challenges. She reminds us that leadership begins with our decisions and that one person’s actions can make a lasting difference.

At Marshall, we encourage our Mustangs to practice being proactive every day, making responsible choices, standing up for what is right, and taking ownership of their learning and behavior.

Thank you for your continued support as we grow leaders together.

Pony up,

Guidance Topic of the Month (K-2): Accountability

7 Habits Connection: Habit 1 – Be Proactive

This month, our students are learning about accountability—understanding that we are responsible for our choices, words, and actions. This connects directly to Habit 1: Be Proactive, which teaches students that they are in charge of their behavior and can choose how they respond in any situation.

We are practicing what it looks like to:

  • Tell the truth

  • Take responsibility when we make mistakes

  • Use calm words to solve problems

  • Make better choices next time

At-Home Tip:
When your child makes a mistake, guide them with questions like:

  • “What happened?”

  • “What could you do differently next time?”

  • “How can you fix it?”

Grades 3–5: Panorama Student Survey

Students in grades 3–5 are participating in the Panorama Student Survey. This survey gives students an opportunity to share their thoughts about their school experience, including topics like sense of belonging, relationships, and learning environment.

Student responses help us better understand how to support their academic, social, and emotional growth. The survey is confidential, and there are no right or wrong answers—just honest feedback.

Thank you for supporting your child in sharing their voice to help us continue building a positive and supportive school community!

💻 Coding with Kids – 4th Grade

Our 4th grade students are participating in Coding with Kids lessons, where they are building problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork skills. These lessons encourage perseverance and creativity while exposing students to valuable technology skills for the future.

Dear Families,

Spring is a season of growth, curiosity, and new beginnings—and it’s a wonderful time to nurture learning at home in simple, joyful ways. As the days get brighter, here are a few easy tips to help your child continue growing academically while enjoying the season.

🌼 Read Everywhere
Take advantage of the nice weather by reading outside! Whether it’s a book on the porch, a blanket in the yard, or signs you see on a walk, reading in new environments keeps learning fun and engaging.

🌼 Talk, Talk, Talk
Spring brings lots to observe—flowers blooming, weather changes, and outdoor activities. Ask your child open-ended questions like, “What do you notice?” or “Why do you think that happened?” These conversations build vocabulary and critical thinking.

🌼 Practice with Purpose
Short, consistent practice goes a long way. Ten minutes of reading, math facts, or writing each day can make a big difference. Keep it low-stress and celebrate effort over perfection.

🌼 Encourage Curiosity
Let your child explore their interests—bugs, sports, art, or stories. Curiosity fuels motivation, and motivated learners grow faster and stronger.

Thank you for being such important partners in your child’s learning journey. Together, we can help students bloom this spring!

Warm regards,
Your Instructional Coach
