MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS
Dear Eagles,
This February, as we celebrate Black History Month, Lindblom proudly recognizes one of our own, Cheryl Burton (SW80P), for her remarkable achievements in journalism. She was one of the first inductees into the Lindblom hall of fame. Did you know that she was a member of the Honey Bears, the Chicago Bears’ cheerleader squad, during her undergraduate years at the University of Illinois, Urbana -Champaign? Ms. Burton’s dedication and talent in the field of journalism have made her a prominent and respected news anchor in Chicago. Her career serves as an inspiration to our students, demonstrating the power of hard work and the limitless possibilities that await. We honor Cheryl Burton’s contributions to broadcasting and her commitment to informing and empowering our community. Last but not least, we greatly appreciate her dedication to investing in the post-secondary pursuits of Lindblom students through her annual scholarship fund.
Last but not least, we invite students and families to join us for our Taste of the Diaspora event this week. The event will feature student performances and delicious food. Feel free to wear cultural apparel and bring a dish to contribute to the feast.
Onward and upward, ~Principal Banks

YEA! Chicago
Every fall, Female Strong hosts an all-girls chapter of The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA! Chicago) - a six-month after school program hosted in downtown Chicago for 6th-12th grade young women to build the skills and confidence needed to thrive in business and life. They are currently accepting applications for the 2025-2026 cohort. This program teaches female students how to select, research, vet, develop, and market a business. From idea generation to pitching their businesses for startup investment funds, this six-month course is truly transformative. Each YEA! Chicago cohort kicks off its Wednesday after school classes downtown in October and culminates in a SharkTank inspired Investor Panel pitch competition in March. https://femalestrong.app.neoncrm.com/forms/yea-chicago-entrepreneur-girls-2025-2026-application-1
