Academy Avenue Announcements
Dear Academy Families and Friends,
Last newsletter we talked about home and school connections and how important our relationships are. As we near the middle of the month, it's important to mention that Term 2 will be closing on Friday, March 24, 2023 and soon we'll be entering the third and final trimester of the year. This is also an important time as we have our Spring Parent Teacher conferences. Here is some additional information regarding conferences.:
In-person conferences will take place on the evening of Tuesday, April 4th from 5-8 pm, and virtual conferences will take place during the afternoon of Wednesday, April 5th from 12:25-3:25 pm. During your conference, teachers will have helpful information to share with you, and you are welcome to ask any questions you have regarding your child’s progress. A strong partnership between home and school is very important, and we are dedicated to supporting your child’s growth. Homeroom teachers will be sending out sign-up information tomorrow, March 20th.
We will also be holding a school book fair the week of Parent.Teacher Conferences.
Also for our students in grades 3-5, MCAS exams are coming soon. We ask that for these days and grades that students get a good night's sleep before an exam day as well as come to school every day with a solid breakfast and a fully charged chromebook. We also ask families to make sure chromebooks are updated regularly (go to settings and click "About Chrome OS" and click update) so the students' devices are working at optimum settings. Chrome updates can be done nightly as well as on the weekends. This goes for all school-issued chromebooks and Ipads as they cannot be done at school.
Last but not least, thank you for all of the home support with Lexia and ST Math. The kids are doing great and Academy has moved up from our first round loss to third place overall in the district. Semi-finals are coming soon, so keep those math minds puzzling...it's making a big difference.
Thank you again for your support!
Mr. Higgins
