Peakview Academy

December 2025 NEWSLETTER
Hello PVA families, and happy December!
As the calendar turns and true winter comes closer, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to every member of our school community — students, families, staff, and community members alike. This season reminds us how much we accomplish together, from everyday learning in the classroom, to special events and celebrations that bring us closer as a school family.
As we approach the upcoming season and winter break, I encourage you to take time to rest and enjoy time with loved ones. We should also take a moment to celebrate how far we have come this semester — the growth, the laughter, the kindness, and the teamwork that makes our school such a warm and welcoming place.
Thank you for your ongoing support, involvement, and partnership. Wishing you all a joyful, refreshing and safe December.
Vivian Pankow

Interim Assistant Principal Spotlight
We are excited to spotlight Rebecca Marsh, who has been supporting PVA as our Interim Assistant Principal since the end of September. We are so grateful for the leadership, care, and experience she brings to our community.
Mrs. Marsh's background includes, but is not limited to, serving as a secondary teacher, supervising student teachers, and working as a principal both within Thompson School District and in other districts. We are thrilled to have her as part of the PVA family and we look forward to the continued positive impact she will have on our learners, staff, and families.

Winter Break
January 7th – Return to School Details
As we prepare to return from Winter Break, we want to make sure all families are aware of an important schedule difference based on the district-approved calendar.
Wednesday, January 7th
-
Middle Level (Grades 6–8): School is in session. All 6th–8th grade students should attend school on this day.
-
Preschool–5th Grade: NO school for Preschool–5th grade students on January 7th. Their first day back will be Thursday, January 8th.
Because our school serves Preschool–8th grade students on one campus, this split schedule may create some confusion or transportation challenges for families with children in multiple grade levels. If your middle-level student has younger siblings at home that day, please plan accordingly to ensure your middle-level student arrives to school on time.
Thank you for your support as we follow the district’s calendar and help all learners transition smoothly back into the school routine!
Monitoring Student's Online Activity at Home
Securly Home gives families a view of their child’s online activity on district devices. The app sends real time alerts for flagged activity, provides weekly activity summaries, and allows parents and guardians to see which sites their child is visiting. It also offers simple tools for setting filtering preferences when the Chromebook is off campus, helping families support safe and healthy device use at home.
Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books practice continues Dec. 2, and 16th for 3rd and 5th graders, Dec. 4th and 18th for 4th graders and Dec. 1st and 15th for Middle Level.
District Competition
Teachers, parents, grandparents etc. are welcome to help run this event for 3rd - 5th grade after school! We would meet every other week initially and then 1x a week starting in Jan. until the competition in February. District competition is March 28th. Please email our Library/Media Assistant, Lorelei Plagman, at lorelei.plagman@tsd.org if you have any questions or want to help out.
Preschool for the 2026-2027 School Year
Discover the Thompson School District Preschool Program!
In the Thompson School District, we are committed to providing high-quality early childhood education led by dedicated and highly skilled teachers and paraprofessionals. Dual Language Immersion Program for Preschool
"Giving your child the gift of a second language"
Are you interested in Dual Language Immersion for your preschooler? For the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, we are excited to offer a Dual Language Immersion preschool program to enhance early learning experiences.
The Dual Language Immersion Program is an academic program that enhances the development of content in two languages-English and Spanish, as well as literacy in both languages, so that students will graduate ready for college, career, and life in a globally competitive economy and a collaborative global community. This unique program builds student linguistic skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in both English and Spanish. Students learn standards-based content as they become linguistically and academically proficient in two languages.
After preschool, students can continue the Dual Language program at Cottonwood Plains Elementary or Truscott Elementary. If you are interested in this preschool learning opportunity, please indicate your interest in the Preschool Interest Form.

Attendance robo-calls go out daily, and unexcused absences for elementary students will prompt a phone call from our office staff. When a student reaches 7 absences, teachers or another staff member will connect with you to see how we can support your family in getting your child to school on time every day. Do you qualify for Free & Reduced Meal Benefits?
ALL families are still asked to fill out an application. Why? The Healthy School Meals for All (HSMA) program is funded in partnership with federal nutrition programs that rely on income information to support meals for all students. Other state and federal grants are awarded based on free and reduced meal eligibility rates.
Additionally, families that qualify may receive discounted or waived fees for programs inside and outside of the school district.
Instructional Fees
The instructional materials fee is charged to each student annually. This money is utilized for buying textbooks and extracurricular materials for our school, replacing old materials, or replenishing items students use.
Middle Level Exploration Class Fees
These fees are charged to students participating in specific classes and activities. This fee is based on the cost of materials and supplies that have been depleted and need to be replenished.
Middle Level Athletic Fees
The Athletic fee helps to support referees, transportation, equipment and uniforms.
Tech4All Damage/Loss Fine
If a student's device gets lost or damaged and turned in for repair, any costs incurred will be charged to the student’s account.

Peakview Academy Student & Family Handbook 2025-2026
Keeping Our Hands and Bodies to Ourselves
At Peakview Academy at Conrad Ball, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment for all students. To help everyone feel comfortable and secure, we want to remind families of our physical interaction expectations, which align with the district’s Code of Conduct.
Students are expected to keep their hands and bodies to themselves at all times—this includes classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, buses, and all school-related activities. Appropriate physical interactions include handshakes, high-fives, and participation in supervised activities like PE, sports, and recess games, always with mutual consent.
Inappropriate interactions, such as roughhousing, hugging, kissing, hand-holding, or touching another person’s belongings or body, will result in reminders and redirection. Repeated or serious violations may lead to additional consequences.
These expectations are highlighted in our PVA Learner & Family Handbook.
Thank you for partnering with us to ensure that Peakview Academy remains a safe and welcoming space for all learners!
