September in the Rearview Mirror
It's hard to believe that a month of school has gone by already! During this time, teachers have been building community in their classrooms and introducing new knowledge and skills, while students have been acclimating to classroom routines and engaging in new learning. This month has also included the introduction of a daily morning greeting during which students are encouraged to act like RAMS (see next article for a description of what this means) and then invited to recite the Pledge of Allegiance, which is led by two different third graders each week over the intercom. Finally, a new audio-visual system, featuring a drop-down screen, ceiling-mounted projector and speakers, stage microphones, and remote microphones, has been installed in our cafegymatorium. We look forward to making ample use of this equipment for the benefit of the entire community!
Weekly RAMS Award Winners
Every Friday we randomly select a prize winner (one per class) from among the students who received a RAMS award that week for being a responsible worker, acting respectfully, having a mighty positive attitude, and/or staying safe. Selected students get to choose a small toy; read to a class; help Mr. Deane in the hallways, Ms. McCorrison in the office, or Ms. Markee in the kitchen; eat lunch with a friend; eat lunch with me; announce the weekly RAMS award winners; or, two new additions to the roster: hang artwork with Ms. Caler or select a book from the book vending machine.

Gentle Reminders
- Students who are being dropped off, whether by car, bicycle, scooter, or on foot, should arrive between 8:40 and 8:55 am, when the bell rings. If you are dropping off your student by car, please avoid pulling up in front of the parking spots that are blocked with cones as this area is reserved for bus drop offs. We also ask that students, even if they have been playing on the playground before the school is open, enter through the front doors rather than the back doors. Students are dismissed at 2:55 pm. If you are picking up your student by car, please do not park in the staff parking lot on the side of the school. Students being picked up may be met at their classroom door.
- Students are asked to bring a water bottle (labeled, please) and healthy snack with them to school every day; if either would impose a financial burden, please let Ms. McCorrison know so they can be provided.
- If your student is celebrating a birthday, please keep the following in mind.
- Party invitations may only be distributed at school if all students in the classroom are given one.
- Due to various student/staff allergies, homemade foods are prohibited. Birthday treats should be brought to school in their original containers so staff can read ingredients to prevent student/staff exposure to a known allergen. For more information on this and other policies, please review the Pre-Kindergarten - Grade 5 Student Handbook 2025-2026 (below).
