DFP Family Update
May 30, 2026
Despite the rainy weather, I hope you enjoy a relaxing weekend. Our classrooms are filled with exciting end-of-year activities, Students are already enjoying summer-themed learning experiences, including bugs and butterflies, camping adventures, pizza shop dramatic play, and many other hands-on opportunities that encourage creativity, exploration, and fun. We look forward to making the most of these final weeks together with special events, outdoor activities, and memorable experiences for our preschoolers. On Tuesday, we are especially excited to welcome the Big Trucks, a favorite end-of-year event for many of our students!
Big Truck Day is Tuesday, June 2
One of the most popular days of the year is fast approaching: Big Truck Day on Tuesday, June 2. Each year the Walpole DPW and Parks Department park their bulldozers, skid steers, cranes, and other vehicles for our students to climb on and explore (they need reminders not to use the air horns!). This hands-on activity lends itself to our classroom discussions around transportation and community helpers. We look forward to a great day and thank the Town of Walpole for their generosity.
Reminder June 16 is an Early Release Day at 11:00 AM due to FIFA
School Committee approved an early release day on June 16. June 16 will now be observed as an early release day, and all schools will dismiss at their regular early dismissal time. This adjustment reflects the unique scale of this (the FIFA World Cup) international event and is not reflective of typical stadium-related activities.
Daniel Feeney Preschool will dismiss at 11:00am
DFP Field Day, Thursday June 11
Our preschool "Field Day" is also a hit! This outdoor play day is filled with games, bubbles, music, and a LOT of water play! Your child's teacher will contact you with what to pack that day, but a towel is a certainty!
Spring Reminders
As warmer temperatures approach, it is helpful to dress your student in layers. While the mornings can be cool, it is quickly starting to warm up! Also, sneakers and closed-toes shoes are best for running and jumping on the playground - please no flip flops as this is definitely a tripping hazard.
Finally, we are not allowed to apply sunscreen, big spray, etc. on your student. Please keep this in mind over these coming months - thank you.
DFP Graduate Signs
We have lawn signs available for sale for those rising Kindergarten students. A sign is $20 and you can pay by cash or check (made out to Town of Walpole). Please direct payment to Julie Martin and I will arrange delivery of the sign with you.
Report Cards and Progress Reports
Report cards and progress reports will be available for viewing on your Aspen account on June 17, 2026.
