ORES Newsletter
February 3, 2023
Dear Oak Ridge Families,
Currently, we do not have to make up any of the snow days we have missed so far this year because we included built in snow days over and above what is required by the state. We plan to be back in full swing on Monday, February 6th. Our elementary classroom plans reflected in teacher newsletters for this snow week will be pushed forward into the coming week. Additionally, the hat/jean charity day scheduled for January 31st will now occur on February 10th. February 10th is a $1 hat day with proceeds going toward school supplies for students next year so remind your kiddos to drag out their funny hats and support our elementary charity day.
We will celebrate Valentines Day with a couple of spirit days. Monday, February 13th will be dress like your favorite candy day and Tuesday, February 14th will be dress up with hearts day.
Art club will host a Valentines Day paint night on February 13th as a fund raiser. Bring your family out for a fun night of painting and snacks. The cost is $20 per adult and $10 for children 12 and under.
Classes will celebrate Valentines Day on February 14th. Party treats can be dropped off at the office the afternoon before or the morning of February 14th. Please avoid having flowers and balloons delivered to students at school. Any such deliveries will be held in the office until after school is out when students can come and pick them up if they are a car rider. Deliveries will not be sent home on the bus. Parents will need to come and pick them up from the office.
Oak Ridge Elementary is celebrating 100 days of school on February 14th unless additional snow days cause us to move the date later into February. Students can dress up to represent 100 items or wear something representing the number 100. This is also one of our Valentine's dress up days.
Come and join the fun on February 27th @ 5:30PM for the ORES Title 1 Family Fun Night! We will have food, games, and prizes as well as tips and tricks for helping your child with reading and math. Students that have a parent sign in will be entered into a drawing for a $50 Walmart gift card. Two gift cards will be given away.
Elementary teachers will be working the concession stand tonight at home for the Scott/Miss Conference Tournament and February 6th at home with profits going toward school supplies for students next year. Come out and enjoy a game and a grilled cheese sandwich, burger, pretzel, or popcorn from the concession stand and support our elementary charity goals.
If you or your child needs assistance with school supplies or other resources, please let me know as we have access to resources to help you.
Have a restful weekend with family!
Sincerely,
Sonia Wood
