Harvest Happenings, vol 36

Week of April 28th - May 2nd
We Need Your Help!
Field Day is right around the corner, and weโre gearing up for an amazing day of fun, laughter, and school spirit! To make this event a big success for our students, we need your help.
Field Day is divided into three main parts:
๐ Morning Fun on the Baseball Field or Playground โ Bounce houses, zip line, and more on the baseball field and field games and station-based fun on the playground!
๐ด Lunch Break โ All students will head inside for lunch.
๐โโ๏ธ Afternoon Baseball Field or Playground Activities โ Students flip to the new space for the PM!
Weโre asking families to volunteer for one or more time slots throughout the day. Your support ensures that all students have a safe, fun-filled experience. If you're signing up multiple people, please list all names clearly.
๐ Please note: Volunteers are expected to stay at their assigned stations for the entire time slot to ensure smooth operation and student safety.
Donโt forget to order your Field Day t-shirt โ [link HERE] - DUE Tuesday, April 29th!
District Quality Survey
Look for the Saline Area Schools District Quality Survey in your inbox! The Quality Survey is distributed annually to families, staff, and students (in grades 3-12) and provides important feedback on student and academic support, school leadership, safety and behavior, family engagement, and school operations. The District uses the results to continue making meaningful changes in our schools. Families are invited to learn more about the use of the Quality Survey results from 2023-2024 by viewing the Board of Education report. As with any survey distributed to students, participation is optional. Students will be informed of their choice at the time the survey is administered. Parents who would like to preview the survey or prefer to opt their child out from participating are invited to contact their building principal (Emily Sickler, sicklere@salineschools.org).

DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know... Important Measles Information
Currently in the US, 25 states and our neighbor Windsor, Ontario are experiencing increased cases of measles and measles outbreaks. As of April 25th, there have been confirmed cases in 5 different Michigan counties (no identified cases currently in Washtenaw County). Our district is working closely with the Washtenaw County Health Department (WCHD) to prepare in the event of a measles case in our county or one of our local districts, and we are sharing the following information with families at the request of the WCHD. Facts about measles: Symptoms of measles usually begin 7-14 days after exposure, but can appear up to 21 days after exposure and may include: High fever (may spike to over 104หF) Cough Runny nose Red, watery eyes (conjunctivitis) Tiny white spots on the inner cheeks, gums and roof of the mouth (Koplik Spots) two to three days after symptoms begin A rash that is red, raised, blotchy; usually starts on face and spreads to the trunk, arms and legs three to five days after symptoms begin If symptoms develop, call your doctor, urgent care, or hospital before seeking treatment so steps can be taken to prevent exposure to other individuals. In addition, please notify the district nurse if your child is being evaluated for the measles or if measles is suspected. As with all communicable illnesses, we will follow the guidance from the WCHD regarding reporting, exclusion and cleaning protocols. Under the current guidance released this month, most unvaccinated individuals exposed to measles will need to be excluded from school for 21 days.
For the most up to date information about measles locally and in our state and for vaccine resources, visit the Washtenaw County Health Department measles webpage. Please reach out to your medical provider for questions regarding your or your childโs vaccine status and for additional guidance.
