Fall is here...

Please make sure to send your child/ren dressed for the weather. Days are beginning very cold and warming up. A coat or a sweatshirt will help to keep them warm. Also, the playground is often wet in the morning. A change of clothes in backpacks keeps us warm and dry and ready to learn.

Halloween Parade

On October 31st, we will be carving pumpkins with the PTO. At 2:15 we will be leaving for our annual Halloween Parade.

Students can bring their costumes to school. We will change after lunch. Your child/ren should be able to put their costume on alone. No masks or gore, please. They need to be able to see where they are going so they will be safe on the road.

Presenting Their Points of PRIDE in Kindergarten in First Grade

The boys and girls did a great job presenting at the PRIDE Meeting about the apple and pumpkin life cycle. They worked really hard on their drawings and paintings of each part. This week, we also went to visit the fire station. They were a fantastic audience and learned a lot about fire safety.

Ever Wonder What's Under Your Feet?

This has been a very hands-on week in Science, as students tested water flow through soil components. The water whooshed right through cups of gravel and sand, but things were very different with humous and clay! It all has to do with the size of pore spaces and whether the material can absorb water. Next week we'll investigate what happens in nature, where all four components can be found together.

Famous Artists Inspire Us! Working with Mr. Melle Famous Artists Inspire Us! Working with Mr. Melle

It was great to be back in Francestown this week. The students convinced me to jump right ahead to our painting unit! They had some imaginative ideas for compositions and they were skillful in bringing their concepts to life with color. We can look forward to creating spectacular collages when I return for the week of December 11th.
