Message from Dr. Edwards
We were able to visit the school last week and it is coming along beautifully!!! Lots of sidewalks going in, classrooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor are done, basketball court flooring is being installed, and lots more! I am so excited to have everyone see our beautiful school! 💓
Our official school website is up and running so be sure to check it out! We will continue to add information as it becomes available.
Starting August 3, we will share brief daily updates as we prepare to get families “Ridge Ready.” These updates will come through ParentSquare to help orient you to Cato Ridge Middle School. Together, these communications will introduce the processes, systems, structures, and policies that will serve as the foundation of our partnership and work with the Cato Ridge Middle School community.

Registration for the upcoming school year's athletic programs is officially open! CMS and Cato Ridge Middle School use DragonFly MAX to manage sports registration, electronic medical forms, and athletic participation insurance.
Important Timeline: Tryouts for all fall sports will take place during the first week of school. Specific dates and times will be sent out once they have been finalized. All DragonFly paperwork and physicals must be 100% completed and approved prior to the start of tryouts. Students with incomplete profiles will not be allowed to participate.

Please follow these step-by-step instructions to register your child.

Step 1: Create an Account
- Visit the DragonFly MAX website or download the DragonFly MAX app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Click Sign Up for Free to create your parent account.
- Enter your name, email address, and a secure password.
- Verify your account using the verification code sent to your email.
Step 2: Connect to Cato Ridge Middle School
- Log into your new account.
- Select Get Started and choose the Parent role.
- Click Add a School and search for Cato Ridge Middle School.
- Select our school to link your account.
Step 3: Add your Student-Athlete
- Click Add a Child from your parent dashboard.
- Enter your child's legal first and last name, grade level, and date of birth.
- Select the upcoming school year.
- Check the boxes next to every sport your child might want to play this year.
Step 4: Complete Forms and Upload Documents
- Click on your child’s name to open their eligibility checklist.
- Fill out all required digital forms, including medical history and emergency contacts.
- Upload a clear photo or scan of your child's current, signed physical examination form.
- Review and digitally sign all participation waivers.
Your child's profile status will show as "Ready for Review" once all steps are complete. The athletic department will review the submitted paperwork and change the status to "Ready to Play" (Green) once approved.

With summer officially here, it's time to pick out a good book and a good reading spot to keep those reading skills sharp. Summer Reading is carefully selected by our talented ELA teachers for each grade level. Students can expect to engage with Summer Reading in the classroom within the first few weeks of school.
Please choose an appropriate title (on 3rd page of plan) based on your reading level (lexile), class placement, and interest from the list below. If you are unsure of your lexile level, please visit www.lexile.com to take a very short assessment to gauge your lexile range. Lexile Levels are provided to help guide (not dictate a choice). Please know that with works of fiction, lexile levels often do not seem high enough; however, lexile level is not the only indicator of a complex text.
