December 8, 2023
Dear Weymouth Public Schools Community
We are eight days into December and it has been a busy month so far! I am delighted to share some exciting happenings within our district that truly showcase the incredible work and dedication of our staff and students.
As a reminder, next Tuesday, December 12 is a half-day for professional development. Don't forget to check your student's school newsletter for upcoming holiday concerts, events, spirit days and special programs as we wind down the final weeks before Winter Break.
Have a great weekend!
Warm regards,
Robert Wargo
Superintendent
WPS Our Story - Episode 5
Kindergarten Registration - Sibling Survey
In preparation for Kindergarten registration for the next school year. To prepare for sibling placements we are asking you to take a moment to fill out this brief survey. Given rising enrollments in classrooms across the district, the knowledge of siblings is more important than ever to prepare our classes. Your help with this is much appreciated, if you have any questions please reach out to our Family Engagement Center at familyengagement@weymouthps.org
Weymouth High Theater Company
Last Saturday, December 2nd, hundreds of theater students from across the state competed in the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild annual individual contest day. Two of our seniors won individual state titles.

The Wasabi Fenway Bowl, in partnership with Amica, Samuel Adams, Moderna, Meet Boston, and Boston Globe Media, proudly presents the 2023 Honor Roll class. The Wasabi Fenway Bowl Honor Roll is a charitable program focused on recognizing and thanking educators who have gone above and beyond to support their students and respective communities. Congratulations Jessica!
WHS Students who attend our Adams Academy Program spent time working with our youngest students from the Weymouth Child Family Community Center at Adams. They had fun building bird houses and reading stories.
WHS Senior Signs at Yale!
Weymouth High School Senior Megan Doyle signs her letter to commit to play lacrosse at Yale University! Go Bulldogs! Congratulations Megan!
WHS Career Speaker Series
As part of the WHS Career Speakers Series, Chief John Terhune gave a presentation about the US Navy Nuclear Program to physics students in Rich Higgins classes. Chief Terhune was joined by US Navy Service Members from across the country, who are visiting the Boston area for the Army/Navy game. Also attending were Superintendent Rob Wargo, Weymouth Veterans Service Agent George Pontes, Weymouth Fire Chief Keith Stark and Weymouth Fire Deputy Chief Justin Myers. WFD attendees are Navy Veterans. We thank all of the Servicemembers for their service.
Chapman Middle School Chef Speaker Series - Episode 2
Chef Bill Moriarity from South Shore Hospital spoke to Jamie Mitchell's class. This video was produced by students in Chapman's Community Journalism class in conjunction with the Wildcat Media Club.
Murphy After School Wildcat Media Club
Please enjoy this video by the Murphy After School Media Club. In this club, students learn how to work the camera, use the clapboard and boomstick, light the set, prepare the green screen, interview teachers, and have fun on camera.
It's a great way for students to work collaboratively, use critical thinking skills, and develop a skillset that revolves around a movie set. And it's fun!
