Parent and Community Engagement at Truitt Middle School
Hello Truitt Families,
I am honored and excited to introduce myself to you as the new principal at Truitt Middle School. It is truly a privilege to join a school community with such a strong tradition of excellence and history.
I grew up in Willis, TX before attending Texas A&M University. There I earned my Bachelor of Arts in History and my master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. That is also where I met my wife, Laura. She also works for CFISD. We have four children who range in age from fourteen to seven. Fun fact, my third child’s name is actually, Truitt. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, coaching youth sports, and working on projects around the house.
I bring with me 17 years of service, all in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. I began my career as a social studies teacher at Cypress Woods High School, where I also coached baseball. I have also spent time coaching at Spillane Middle School and Campbell Middle School. In 2019, I transitioned into administration as an assistant principal at Cypress Park High School, eventually being named the Associate Principal there.
The staff and students have been incredible in welcoming me into the Truitt community. I look forward to working alongside our dedicated staff, students, families, and community partners to continue building on Truitt’s success. Together, we will focus on fostering a positive school culture, supporting student growth, and ensuring every student feels valued, challenged, and supported. If you see me at any school functions, please feel free to introduce yourself.
I am excited to being this journey with you and to serve the Truitt Middle School community.
Thank you,
Justin Nichols
Principal

Procedures for Students Leaving Early
Dear Parents and Guardians,
If you plan on having your student leave early because of a doctor's appointment or non-emergency, please follow these procedures:
- Send a handwritten note with your student information and the time needed to be excused (please make sure your student gives it to attendance before 1st period).
- If sending a note through email, please make sure you attach a photo of your ID and you must send it an hour prior to leaving.
- No emails or early releases after 2:30 pm due to the dismissal process starting.
Other helpful tips:
- Make sure if your student is absent, please send a doctor's note when your student arrives back to school.
- Only emergency contacts listed can be allowed to take students with previous approval from guardian.
- If a student arrives at school after 7:55 am, make sure to sign them in or send a note. Otherwise, they will be counted absent.
- Only 8 absences are allowed per semester.
If you have any questions or concerns, please email Naavyah.Jenkins@cfisd.net for any

A Parent's Right to Know
Title I is a federally funded program meant to provide opportunities for disadvantaged
children to acquire the knowledge and skills they need to help close the
achievement gap. As a parent of a student receiving Title 1 funds, federal law allows
parents to ask for information about the certification of your child's teacher and/or paraprofessional.
