A Letter to the Walteria Community

Dear Walteria Community,

As we approach the winter break, I find myself reflecting on the incredible sense of community and support that defines our school community. It is with immense gratitude and heartfelt appreciation that I write this letter to each and every one of you.

The past months have brought our students incredible triumphs, happy memories, and so much learning and growth: It is during these times that the strength of our community truly shines. Your unwavering commitment to the success and well-being of our students has not gone unnoticed. Whether you volunteered your time, attended school events, or provided encouragement from home, your contributions have played a crucial role in making Walteria a nurturing and vibrant learning environment.

This holiday season, I want to extend my deepest thanks for the generosity, kindness, and support you have shown throughout the year. The collaboration between parents, teachers, and staff has created a school community that is truly special, and I am grateful to be a part of it.

As a quick reminder, during back-to-school online registration, we asked you to sign an “Every Day Counts!” pledge to try to send your student(s) to school every day this year. We know that excellent school attendance paves the way for

  • Stronger academic achievement

  • Enhanced social skills

  • A richer sense of community within the school

  • Increased state funding for educational materials and programs

  • We appreciate everyone’s hard work and commitment toward this district-wide goal. While we are making great progress, during the holidays and cold and flu season it can become even more challenging, so it will be very important to remain focused. We acknowledge that both excused and unexcused absences can increase after holiday breaks for various reasons, including sickness, vacations, and family commitments so please encourage your child to attend class every day when school resumes for the second semester on January 8, 2024.

As we all look forward to a well-deserved winter break, I hope each family takes this time to recharge and create lasting memories with loved ones. May your homes be filled with laughter, joy, and the warmth that comes from being surrounded by those you hold dear. I wish you a wonderful winter break filled with joy, relaxation, and the creation of cherished memories.

We wish you a restful and refreshing upcoming Winter Break beginning on December 22, 2023! Thank you once again for your ongoing support and commitment to our the Walteria School Community. I am excited to see what the coming year holds for us, and I look forward to continuing this journey together.

Happy Holidays!

Warm regards,

Suzanne Guidi, Principal

Health Guidelines for Illness Health Guidelines for Illness

Sometimes it can be confusing to know when to send your student(s) to school and when to keep them home if they’re sick. For a quick reminder, you can look at our County Health Guidelines to help you make a decision. We know that unforeseen circumstances may occur, so if your student has to be out, consider making it only a partial day, or if they are out for three or more days, sign up for an Independent Study Contract to keep them up to date on their classwork.
