As we embark on the final month of the 2024-25 school year and joyfully celebrate the remarkable journey of over 700 members of the Class of 2025, I want to take a moment to remind the cherished CGUHSD Learning Community that Teacher Appreciation Week is upon us, running from May 5 to May 9. Our teachers are not just educators; they are the heart and soul of our vibrant learning community. Every day, they confront the noble yet challenging mission of nurturing and guiding our diverse population of 3,924 students, each with their own unique backgrounds, emotional landscapes, and academic needs.
Reflecting on my own path as I complete my 34th year in public education, I’ve been fortunate to receive numerous messages of appreciation from my supervisors that motivate me to strive for excellence each day. However, the messages that resonate most deeply and will remain etched in my memory are those heartfelt notes of gratitude from students and their families. These expressions of appreciation are the most meaningful, validating the passion and dedication that educators bring to their role.
Educators are inherently driven to make a lasting difference in the lives of the individuals they serve. Your thoughtful messages during Teacher Appreciation Week will not only uplift the spirits of our dedicated staff but also fill their proverbial buckets, providing the fuel necessary to launch into the 2025-26 school year with renewed vigor and enthusiasm.
I encourage you to reflect on the three quotes above, which beautifully encapsulate the profound importance and impact of extraordinary teachers. Think about the educators who have truly embodied these sentiments and consider reaching out to them. Your acknowledgment of their tireless efforts to connect with this generation of students will have a significant impact. I would love for you to copy me on these messages, as I am eager to add my own appreciation for these outstanding educators and the remarkable work they do. You can email them to jlavender@cguhsd.org.
As we enter the busy month of May, we acknowledge the challenges faced by our students as they navigate the culmination of the year amidst various distractions. To conclude the year on a high note, I encourage everyone to prioritize both their academic responsibilities and emotional well-being, remembering to take it one day at a time.
Thank you, CGUHSD Staff, for your unwavering commitment to enriching the lives of our students and their families. Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed!
