August Newsletter
Newsletter-July 2025
Mark your calendars!
I am looking forward to this year being THE BEST! If you know of any Kindergarten students that would like to join our Crichfield family, please send them our way! We are in the office daily from 8:00 am- 4:00 pm.
Open House is scheduled for August 12th. I am excited to offer three different 15 minute informational sessions this year during Open House. Please stop by the cafeteria for information that may help make our year a success.
Rock the Block is not happening this year. If there is a need for school supplies, please call the office. The LPCSC website also has additional community resources to help families.
First Student Day is August 14th for K-4th and August 18th for Preschool. I can't wait to see our Crichfield Cougars back in the classrooms!

Free Breakfast and Lunch for 2025-2026
We are excited to announce that LaPorte Community Schools will again provide FREE breakfast and lunch for our students. Please talk with your child about whether they should stop and get breakfast in the morning. We want our students to eat because they are hungry and food isn't wasted. Thanks to our amazing food service staff that secured this grant for our students!
Parent Square
Parent Square will be how to communicate this year. This will be used by all teachers, coaches, and myself to best share information. Please check our resources to set up your account.
Playground Update
If you drive by the school in the next couple of weeks, you may notice that the playground work will begin the first of August. We hoped that all work would be completed during the summer, but that was not in our control. We will move forward showing our ability to be flexible and plan alternate recesses in the areas available to us. We look forward to the project being completed by the end of September.
Information for incoming Fourth Grade
If your 4th grader would like to participate in track, basketball or ring toss this school year; they must have an IHSAA Athletic Physical on file and the handbook forms signed by parents. Forms are available online and at the Back to School Open House! Track starts right away, so get your physical early!
Arrival and Dismissal Procedures
Here are some reminders for pick up and drop off using our parking lot:
- Drive slowly in the car lanes.
- Adults need to remain in your car.
- Keep in mind that families that need more time to unbuckle/buckle their children should pull up to the yellow gate.
- Preschool parents will be using the bus lot off of Country Club Drive to pick up A.M. and drop off P.M. students.
- PikMyKid App is critical for dismissal changes-thank you in advance for using the App to communicate! This year the goal is to have 100% of our families using the Pik My Kid App for dismissal changes.
- Please contact App Support at the bottom of your home screen for further assistance.
- Here is a parent app training and registration tutorial.
All changes must be completed by 2:30 pm. Last minute changes cause confusion and frustration for staff and students. Thank you for your cooperation!
