NAESP - Report to Parents: Healthy Habits for a Great Holiday Season
Beginning with Thanksgiving through to our Winter Break, holiday gatherings happen frequently among family and friends. While it is the season for giving, we never intend to "give" anyone else a cold or the flu! To help battle against school absences, please remind your child about han- washing and the importance of letting you know if they are not feeling well. In this month's NAESP - Report to Parents, they share ideas about healthy habits for the whole family.
"One of the best ways to help slow the spread of seasonal, illness-causing germs is to remain home if you are sick. The flu is most contagious during the first three days of illness, so keep your children home from school and encourage them to take the necessary precautions if they suspect they have the flu."

CB Realignment Plan - Community Feedback Link
In anticipation of the grade level realignment, the district extends an open invitation to parents, guardians, students, and community members to provide their questions and feedback here. We greatly value your input as it plays a vital role in our decision-making process, ensuring that our choices are in the best interest of our entire community. Butler's Holiday Gift Giving Tree - 2023
Holiday Giving Program…
A great way to offer comfort and support to Butler families
this holiday season.
On November 17th, the Butler Giving Tree has been decorated with paper gift tags. The Giving Tree displays the names of holiday gifts that can be donated for families in our Butler Community who are in need of extra support this holiday season. We invite our Butler students and families to choose a tag (if they wish) to purchase the gift listed. We ask that you wrap the gift and be sure to secure the same tag to the outside of the gift wrap. Please inform your student to only take a tag if directed so we are sure all items are received by the office in time.
All gifts should be delivered to the main office no later than December 15th - to ensure holiday delivery. Thank you for all of your wonderful generosity and support!
More information needed… Please contact Peggy Bernabei at pbernabei@cbsd.org
Support for Butler Families
Butler School & the PTO host many exciting events, including evening activities , Book Fairs, and grade level field trips (to name a few). Some of these activities require monetary payment from families to participate. If any of our families are in need of monetary assistance to support participation for your child, please contact the school counselor Linda O'Connell (loconnell@cbsd.org), Grades 1/3/5/PM-KDG; Kathy Milotich (kmilotich@cbsd.org) Grades 2/4/6/AM-KDG & EDK.
CBSD Attendance Letter
Please review the "Managing Student Attendance Plan" from CB.
Electronic Devices from Home
At the start of the new school year, the Superintendent shared CBSD Policy that all student cell phones/watches are to remain off during the school day - K-12. Please know that any students who bring in cell phones to Butler are required to leave in backpacks (turned off) and do not have access during the school day. Likewise, some of our students have watches that connect to phones and/or directly to a data source. The rule remains the same, so please know that if any device interferes with the classroom/learning/recess/etc., students will be directed to keep items home. Remember, parents may always contact the school office to relay/share a message for your child throughout the school day. Thank you for your cooperation and support.

School Happenings
American Education Week - Connecting to Student Classrooms
American Education Week is celebrated to remind and inspire our school community that the connection between home and school is strong. Throughout the week of 11/13-11/17, Butler Elementary welcomed parents and guardians into classrooms to see our students and teachers focus on learning and instruction. Our Butler Elementary prides itself on the relationships within our school community - students, parents, educators - as we come together to observe our dedication to education.
Butler Spirit Assembly - Trimester 1 - 12/1
Each trimester, Butler Elementary celebrates the accomplishments of our students with a fun and enjoyable assembly. Organized by our Spirit Assembly teacher committee, students and staff participated in "guess the event game", intention setting (goal setting), and culminating slide show. Opening every spirit assembly with Butler's song, the entire school sang about our pillars of character. Congratulations on completing your first trimester, Butler!
Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast - 11/21
Kindergarten students from Butler Elementary had their Thanksgiving Feast this week! We learned about what it means to be thankful and discussed some of the important things we are thankful for. Students created Thanksgiving Place Mats where we drew our family, home, friends, and school, as we learn all about "traditions" and "family" in our My Family Social Studies Unit. Our classroom communities engaged in discussions about their celebrations with family and friends while enjoying a delicious Thanksgiving meal with the help of our wonderful parent volunteers. Special memories were made while learning all about the things we are thankful for!
