Remote Learning Week 1 Check-In
Good Evening Hunter Families,
Total transparency, before I started writing to you I googled, “motivational things for principals to say to parents.” I am sorry to report the internet had no advice and no enlightening quotes. When all else fails, I will default to just being raw and honest.
Let me begin by thanking you for being on this journey with us. Thank you for navigating when programs won’t let you upload pictures or PDF documents won’t open. Thank you for being patient with passwords, and logins and See-Saw. We know that this Remote Learning finds each of your homes impacted by COVID-19 uniquely as it relates to health, work, finances and many other factors. All of our teachers have said in one way or another, “I am here to help.” We all mean that with genuine sincerity.
The way that each of your homes adapts to Remote Learning will be different. The rate at which you fall into a comfortable routine with Remote Learning will be different than other homes. I gently encourage you to not compare how it looks at your house to how it looks in any other house. Some families moved through day 1 and 2 with little to no hiccups. Remote learning teacher Mrs. Jenna Mullins had her 5 year old in tears (true story!) Again, your children are unique and your situations are unique.
I am not linking any resources to this email. There are no new directions for you to follow. You have enough of that this week with your children’s new plans. I just didn’t want week one to go by without sending you a message that your best is okay! And your best will get better as we work through the rest of this school year.
My Best,
Jenna Mullins
