April 2026 K-6 Military Newsletter
Dear Military-Connected Families,
April is a meaningful time in our school community as we celebrate the Month of the Military Child, focus on safety and readiness, and prepare for the final stretch of the school year.
As a military community, we know that global events, military actions, and ongoing deployments can have a direct emotional impact on our students. Many of our children carry the weight of uncertainty, changes at home, or the stress of having a parent or loved one away. We want our families to know: we see this, we honor it, and we are here to support you.
If your student is feeling worried, distracted, or simply needs someone to talk to, there are several support options available:
Military OneSource (https://www.militaryonesource.mil/)
Military OneSource offers confidential, no‑cost counseling and resources for service members, families, and youth. This can be especially helpful during deployment, reintegration, or times of uncertainty.
Available to adults and youth.
Military & Family Life Counselors (MFLCs) – JBSA
JBSA MFLCs provide short‑term, non‑medical counseling to help children manage stress, emotions, and transitions. They understand military life and the unique challenges our families face and are available to adults and youth. Contact information is below:
JBSA-Randolph: (210) 744-4829 & 996-4037
Child & Youth Behavioral: (210) 627-0338 & 627-0525
JBSA-Fort Sam Houston: (210) 421-9387
School Counselors
Every campus counselor is ready to support students who may be struggling. They can provide check-ins, coping strategies, and a safe space to talk during the school day.
You’re Not Alone
If your family is navigating the emotional impact of deployment or global events, please reach out. We are committed to supporting the well-being of every military-connected student and the adults who care for them.
With warm regards,
Tina Hidy & Ronnie Williamson, Military Support Specialist
