KIA ORA VOGELTOWN WHANAU
Today we had a massive day, exploring our local environment at Pūkākā / Marsland Hill. What an amazing day this was for our whole school. The excitement began with a bus trip to Pūkākā where we then gathered into our whanau groups. Throughout the day we spent time learning about past stories that are associated with key areas, these being: The history of Pūkākā hill, exploring the names of past soldiers and warriors in the St Mary's graveyard, learning about the mill stones at Red Coat Lane, the history of the white statue, and exploring Te Whare Hononga.
After a well deserved kai break in the shade, our awesome tamariki, kaiako and whanau began the big adventure back to school along the Huatoki Walkway. We were absolutely blown away by the way our Vogeltowners dug deep to walk all the way back! They sure did love their ice blocks at the end of the day.
A big thanks to all the parents and whanau who came along for the trip - "WHAT AN ADVENTURE!"
Next week we are looking forward to our Whanau Fiesta. This is always a great night, and a fantastic way for our community to come together. On Monday, each family will receive a plate for a baking donation. This is always a very popular stall, so make sure you get in quick on the night! Please see below for further "Fiesta" information.
If you have a bit of time over the next week, please give us some feedback around the Mahi Tahi meetings we had at the beginning of the year - thanks to the 20+ whanau who have done so already!

SCHOOL GOAL THIS TERM - 'COURAGEOUS'
CLASS REPS FOR TERM 1 & 2 2024
At Vogeltown School, we're thrilled to announce our Term 1 and 2 Class Reps for 2024! These students are outstanding leaders who are highly respected by their peers.
Being a Class Rep is a significant responsibility. It involves undertaking important tasks throughout the school and demonstrating a strong sense of pride and courage.
We've observed that in the past our Class Reps often transition into leadership roles at their next schools. This is because they gain valuable leadership experience here at Vogeltown.
Congratulations to our newly appointed Class Reps! We have no doubt that you will excel in representing our school and serving as positive role models for others. Keep up the excellent work!

Selected from among the Paetoki students, these individuals will play a key role in all Whanau events throughout the year.
Being a Whanau Leader is a significant responsibility, requiring them to support and guide all students within their whanau, share their enthusiasm, and encourage their peers to try new things.
Congratulations to those chosen for this important role.

WHANAU FIESTA - HOME AND SCHOOL
Come along and join us for our annual ‘Whānau Fun Fiesta’. This will be held at the Senior school on Wednesday 21st February from 5pm - 7pm - Next week!
There will be food for sale on the night: sausage sizzle, burgers, pizza, vege nachos, hot chips, desserts, popcorn, ice blocks and drinks. Even some fun activities: Horizontal bungee, bouncy castle, tug o war and sack races.
We are asking all families to donate baked goods for our very popular cake stall. On Monday 19th February, the eldest child from each family will be given a plate to take home and return with some lovely baking on the day of the ‘Whanau Fun Fiesta’.
We are really looking forward to this wonderful community event and hope to see you all there.

VOGELTOWN SCHOOL FEES/DONATION
A reminder to everyone that we do not ask for a school donation/fee at Vogeltown School. The Vogeltown Board opted in to the Ministry of Education donation scheme for 2024, which means we get paid a donation from the government and we do not ask families to contribute to any 'curriculum related' costs - including transport and events like Life Education.
More information can be found on the Ministry of Education's website.
