Thornton Roundup

School will be closed on Monday, May 29th for Memorial Day. This is a federal holiday in the United States that honors those who have died while serving in the U.S. military. Thank you to all who have served and continue to serve our country.

Please note that we do NOT yet have scores in from state assessments. This information is provided by the district to inform parents regarding the steps to access scores. The timeline for the release of scores is located in the last link of this email.

Directions to access STAAR, STAAR Alt 2, TELPAS and TELPAS Alt results are attached in English.

Important to note:

• You may access your child’s Spring 2023 scores along with tailored resources on the dates included in the attached parent letter (August 16th).

• You may view your child’s score history 24/7 by logging into NISD’s Home Access Center (HAC) and choosing the Texas Test Scores tab. This connects you to the Texas Assessment Student Portal for families.

• The results will include detailed information in each subject, including areas of strength and gaps in learning, actual test questions, and tailored resources parents can use at home to support learning.

• If you do not currently have a HAC account, you may follow the instructions here to create one. Once the account has been created, you may view your child’s state assessment score history by following the steps attached.

For more detailed information on score reporting, reference the Reporting Timelines for Spring 2023 STAAR linked below.

It feels like just yesterday, we were scrambling to adjust our Popsicles with the Principals event to the back bus loop due to bad weather, and here we are with June 1st being the last day of school for our Thornton Texans. We are grateful to all our community members, PTA, parents, and staff for making this year such a memorable year full of events for our Texans. We look forward to seeing our students back next year and wish those who are moving on much luck in their future endeavors. Have a fun summer, and we will see you all very soon.

It's that time of the year. Our 5th graders will be moving on to their next chapter. We are so proud of how they have grown and everything they have accomplished. We will miss our current students and be cheering them on as they venture out to Middle School. The 5th Grade Celebration will be Thursday, June 1st starting at 8:30 am in the cafeteria. Everyone in attendance will need a valid ID to get a visitor pass.
