BOOK SWAP

If there is one thing about buying books for my kids that is challenging, it might be how quickly they read them and then are looking for the next one. Their rooms (and our home) have stacks of titles in many places. A few they will reread, yet many could find a new reader.

If your situation is anything like ours, you will appreciate an upcoming event at Mineral Point Elementary School. On Friday, March 1, 2019, we will be hosting our first book swap. Students can bring in books from home and donate them to school. In return, they can select new books that their peers brought in exchange.

Below are the steps to follow for a successful book swap.

1. For the month of February, students can bring in books from home to the LMC to donate for this project. These books should be gently used or never read. Books in poor condition will not be accepted.

2. In exchange, students will receive up to five (5) tickets to redeem for new books on March 1. Mrs. Uppena will be “rolling out the red carpet” to display the books available for students to select from during the day.

This project is in concert with Read Across America Day on March 2, 2019. This annual event takes place on Dr. Seuss’s birthday. According to the National Education Association, it is “a nationwide reading celebration in which thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books.” Our book swap also aligns with our school goal of creating a community of readers. Thank you in advance for your support!

Sincerely,

Matt Renwick, Principal

Hopefully you've found time to review your child's report card. Please remember to sign the envelope and return it to school asap.

Thank you!

Are you ready to rock?!?!?!

Jump with Jill is the world’s only rock & roll nutrition show. A professional production will be held at the Mineral Point Elementary School on March 8th. The program will transform nutrition education into a live concert. The Emmy-nominated program was created by a Registered Dietitian and musician named Jill. So you can be sure that your child’s experience will be engaging, entertaining, and educational. We know that advertising for unhealthy foods works to convince kids to build loyalty to foods that are bad for them. Jump with Jill uses those same tools – music, excitement, and characters – to make learning about health cool. They have performed the show 3,500 times for over a million kids across six countries. So there’s just one question… are you ready to rock?!

LUNCH PAYMENTS MADE EASY

Lunch Express is a payment program that allows for online payments for school lunches. This is made possible by using e-funds.

The student ID number for e-funds is the "Other ID" in the general information of Skyward Family Access. This ID is located under your childs picture. Skyward Family Access is located under the "Quick links" tab on our school website .

The family number in e-funds is NOT the “Family ID” in Skyward, but is your “Phone” number in the contact information of Skyward Family Access (without area code or dashes). For example, if the families phone number in Skyward is (608) 987-1234, then the family number is 9871234.

As always, you are welcome to send meal payments to the office with your child. If you have any questions please call 987-0710.
