Something to Yelle About
The Weekly Newsletter for the Henri A. Yelle Elementary
WHAT AN AWESOME START TO ANOTHER SCHOOL YEAR!
First Yelle Newsletter for the 2025-2026 School Year!
Hello from the Yelle.
WELCOME! And WELCOME BACK!
I use this weekly newsletter on Fridays to give you a glimpse of the past week and also help you to know what is happening in the near future. Please keep an eye out for it every Friday and make sure you check it out!
It has been an absolutely fantastic start to the Year! The students have been incredible and I am always more and more impressed by our faculty and staff each and every day for their dedication and enthusiasm. Even though it has only been four days, I feel as though everyone is already back into the swing of things. I hope that this is something your child has been saying as they have come home from this quick short first week.
As on our Instagram feed, the pictures below and the big one above show -- we have utilized these days as a way to get to know each other, build relationships, learn to collaborate and cooperate, and just make the Yelle a welcoming place for each and every student. This is such a major goal to what we aim to do and I think we have succeeded this past week.
In the big picture above, each week, I use it as a way to highlight and show what we were able to accomplish during the week.
On our first day our awesome HAY PTO "chalked the walk" and we had at every entryway amazing statements and artwork to welcome our students for their first day. We also had our wavy purple men greeting them as they came in. All of this is to show our students how excited we are and how much we care and want them to be here. Other pictures show students working together to build relationships and getting to know each other. We also celebrated the 4th Day of School for our 4th Graders today with many activities and fun celebrations, including a couple of dance parties! One picture showed one of our very first #GoodNewsCallOfTheDay for the school year. We love having students nominated for their outstanding efforts, then we make the call home, and they get to visit our HAY PTO Book Vending Machine. Students can be nominated for a #GNCOTD for many things and all it takes is just being caught doing something good. We, again, love doing them and we hope that each of you receives this Good News Call at least once throughout the year. All of our kids can't stop checking out our vending machine, and we even have had already one of our students earning #PBIS hashtags for a coin to get their choice book. And for yet another year, our Thursday tradition of #PositiveSignThursday continues, where I try to get around to as many kids as I can to snap a picture with our weekly positive message with this week's apropos WE'RE SO HAPPY YOU'RE HERE! really does mark our feelings this week!
We centered this week on learning each other and who we are, and it is upon this foundation we can build everything else we need to learn. So we are so happy everyone is with us each and every day!
These and the other pictures below that I have snapped throughout the week in and around the classrooms really do relay a story of the incredible relational accomplishments our students and teachers achieved in just four days this week. Please check them out below and all over our Instagram feed to help to tell the tremendous story we are writing this year.

Yelle 5th Grade Band
Dear 5th Grade Families,
We are excited to announce that Band sign-ups for 5th grade are now open!
Joining the band is a wonderful way for students to explore music, build confidence, and have fun with their classmates. We meet weekly in the band room and students are grouped into sections by instrument. Once you have rented an instrument and completed the google form, I will be able to create the most advantageous schedule for our students. They will not miss any specials, but they will be pulled from a class to meet for their sectionals (weekly) as well as a larger mixed group of instruments (every other week). Once we are up and running, we will be able to meet in larger groups and eventually as a whole band to prepare for a Spring concert.
To register your child, please:
Open the attached flyer below.
Scan the QR code to rent an instrument of your choice from the list provided.
Complete the quick Google Form (link below) and online rental by Thursday, September 12th.
All rentals will be completed online this year through K and C Music. Once completed, instruments will be delivered to me in the band room and handed out to students on the first day of band.
Please complete the following, if you are interested for your child: 5th Grade Band Sign Up Form
If you have any questions, please reach out to me at ddufresne@norton.k12.ma.us
Thank you, and we look forward to a great year of music!
Best regards,
Doug Dufresne

Yelle Curriculum Night - Tuesday, September 16
Hello Yelle Families:
We are doing a Yelle Elementary Curriculum Night on Tuesday, September 16th, we invite all parents/guardians for an evening event, our Elementary Curriculum Night, where teachers will share the academic plan for the year.
4th Grade will be from 6 to 6:30PM, and 5th Grade from 6:45 to 7:15PM.
We ask that guardians come on-time (no need to be early) head to their child's Homeroom Teacher's classroom to be filled in on the particulars of 4th or 5th Grade. In the past few years, many things have changed academically for our students and what we expect of them. We felt as though a night dedicated to academics was necessary, especially with our new Math program and our new ELA programming. This is a night where you can hear what you can expect your child to relay to you about what they are doing during the day, during classes, and what may be expected at home. A Q&A period will be built into those half-hour sessions, as well as the evening is staggered to allow folks with siblings the ability to visit different grades. Champions will be offering child care in the cafeteria for anyone who may need it.
We look forward to seeing you at this Curriculum Night!
Please feel free to email me with any questions.
News from the HAY PTO in Multiple Parts ...
Hello Yelle Families:
The HAY Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) hopes all families had a great Summer vacation. We are looking forward to another senational school year!

You can view on the HAY Calendar on the NPS website.
We look forward to seeing returning parents along with new faces from our fourth grade families!
