Principal's Message
Greetings, Wildcat Families!
We had such a fun Spirit Week that culminated in celebrating Halloween at Lucile Erwin! There were so many creative costumes and friendly smiles, and our students and staff brought wonderful energy to the day. Please check out our Facebook page for all the fun photos!
We also held our 6th Grade Assembly, recognizing students who demonstrated the IB Learner Profile traits of Risk-Taking and Thinking, along with those showing strong progress in iReady Math and Reading. It was inspiring to see so many students celebrated for their effort, curiosity, and growth.
Thank you to all who helped make this week safe and enjoyable—our school community continues to show just how positive and connected we can be when we celebrate learning and have fun together. GO WILDCATS! ROAR!
With gratitude,
Jeanette Ryan
Principal

LUC Club Visits CSU
Last week, our LUC (Latinos Unified in Community) Club students had the opportunity to spend the day at Colorado State University! They toured the beautiful campus, met with both undergraduate and graduate students to hear about college life, and even got to sit in on a student senate session — microphones and all — to vote on the very important question: pizza or pasta?
Students also visited CSU’s cultural centers and learned about the many ways the university celebrates diversity and community. It was a gorgeous day filled with learning, laughter, and inspiration — an unforgettable experience for our Wildcats!
Give Next Kickoff Day
Last week, LEMS and all TSD secondary schools joined in the Give Next Kickoff Day at CSU’s Lory Student Center! More than 700 middle and high school students from across all three Larimer County school districts came together to explore real community issues, ask thoughtful questions, and be inspired to make a difference.
Students connected with over 50 local nonprofits, participated in hands-on breakout workshops, and heard from an inspiring keynote speaker. Superintendent Dr. Bret Heller stopped in to visit with the students, staff, and organizers to learn more about the program and continue TSD's support. What an incredible day of learning, leadership, and community impact!

LEMS LUC celebrates the Day of the Dead
November 1st and 2nd is a celebration known as the Day of the Dead. On this day, offerings of food and water are placed on altars for those who have passed away. Family members who have died are believed to visit us. It is also considered a way to remember them. LEMS LUC celebrates the Day of the Dead with a mural where the people of Erwin have written the names of their deceased loved ones to remember them.
Colorado Crunch Off
LEMS students joined in on the Colorado Crunch Off! Way to go, Wildcats— we definitely crunched loud and proud!

The Power of Gratitude
Investing in Wellness: A November Focus on Gratitude
Dear LEMS Families,
As the colder months arrive, we are focusing on key aspects of our mental and emotional health in our school. You may have heard your student talking about the importance of being thankful. This isn't just a holiday tradition—it's a scientifically proven practice for boosting well-being.
Why Gratitude Matters
Research in positive psychology shows that consistently practicing gratitude helps individuals:
Increase Happiness: Expressing thanks shifts focus from what we lack to what we have, leading to higher levels of optimism and joy.
Reduce Stress: In challenging times, gratitude acts as a buffer, helping the brain manage stress and anxiety more effectively.
Strengthen Relationships: When we acknowledge the good things others do for us, it deepens our connections with family, friends, and peers.
How You Can Help at Home
We invite you to reinforce this positive practice at home this month. To make it easy and engaging, we've provided a simple, shared activity below. When students see the whole family valuing and practicing gratitude, its impact multiplies.
Thank you for partnering with us to support your student's mental and emotional wellness.
Sincerely,
Lauren Hansen
