Keystone Middle School
Welcome Back
A Personal Note as We Begin the Year
As we prepare to welcome our students and families back to Keystone Middle School, I wanted to begin this newsletter a little differently and share a few personal updates from our administrative team.
Many in our Keystone community are already aware that I was diagnosed with cancer late last school year and am currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments. While this certainly wasn't how I envisioned spending the weeks leading into a new school year, I am incredibly grateful to share that my medical team is treating my cancer with curative intent, and I remain very hopeful about the road ahead.
I also want our families to know that I fully intend to remain an active part of KMS throughout my treatment. There will be days when treatments, appointments, or simply allowing my body time to recover will require me to be away from the building, but you will still see me in the hallways, at events, communicating with families, and doing the work that I love whenever I am able.
Along with the changes this year will bring, we also have a wonderful reason to celebrate within our KMS family—Mrs. McElravy and her family are expecting a baby! We are so excited for her and look forward to celebrating this very special season with her. Of course, this also means that early this school year, Mrs. McElravy will have some well-deserved time away from KMS as she welcomes her newest little one.
Knowing that both of us will have intermittent absences this year, our district and administrative team have been very intentional about making sure KMS has strong, consistent leadership and support in place.
I am excited to share that Mr. Shaw (our current KHS principal) will be spending much more of his time with us at the middle school this year. Mr. Shaw will work closely alongside Mrs. McElravy and myself and will provide an additional administrative presence and source of support for our students, staff, and families. You will see him in our hallways, at school events, and becoming an important part of the day-to-day life of KMS early this fall.
There may be moments this year when our administrative team looks a little different, but the heart of Keystone Middle School will remain exactly the same. We have an incredible staff, a strong administrative team, and a community that continually reminds me what it means to take care of one another.
This year will bring challenges to navigate, milestones to celebrate, and undoubtedly plenty of memorable middle school moments in between. Through all of it, I am incredibly excited to begin another school year with our students, staff, and families.
Here's to a wonderful year at KMS!

SUPPLY LISTS
Please keep in mind that your student may not know which electives they are taking until they receive their schedule. Our teachers completely understand this, so there is no expectation that every supply will be purchased before the first day of school. Once schedules are available, we simply ask that families work to gather any additional supplies needed during the first week or two of school. No worries if everything isn’t ready on day one!

Pay-to-Participate
Before your Wildcat’s first athletic contest, it is essential that all Pay-to-Participate fees are paid in full or a payment plan is established. We understand that financial circumstances can vary, and we are here to work with you to ensure that every student who wishes to participate has the opportunity to do so. Please reach out to our athletic department or the school office if you have any questions or need assistance in setting up a payment plan.
Please note, fees cannot be paid on the PowerSchool app. Instead, you must login to https://payschoolscentral.com/
