A Message From Mrs. Gabriela Elliott, Campus Principal
Greetings Ravens!
Thank you for the attendance to our Open House this Monday, 3/25/24. We appreciate the partnership and the commitment to GREATNESS!!!!
Our week's attendance was 96.43%. That is OUTSTANDING second consecutive week, Ravens!!!! Thank you for making it count!!! Drum roll for our weekly grade attendance.... Our 6th Graders maintained 1st place in attendance with 97.41%, earning free dress Monday, 4/1/24! WOW!!!!!! Our 8th graders maintained 2nd place with 95.9% (second week in a row!!!), and our 7th Graders came in 3rd place with 95.80%. Nicely done 6th-8th Grades!! Way to make it count!!
As a reminder, every week that our students have perfect attendance during March 25- May 30, their name will be entered into the raffle for a chance to win the new PS5!!! Raffle will be May 30th, must be present to WIN. Let's make it count Ravens! Every minute of instruction matters.
We track attendance daily and will communicate with families when children have 5 absences & tardies to establish a Loss of Credit Contract. Our goal is for your child to be healthy and at school without losing credit.
- Each SCHOLAR with perfect attendance Monday-Friday will be allowed to wear jeans Fridays.
- Each SCHOLAR with perfect attendance for 9 weeks will be invited to our Raven Dance at the end of the semester FREE of CHARGE to celebrate their accomplishment!
- Each GRADE LEVEL that earns the highest attendance for the week gets free dress on the Monday after.
- Perfect attendance 3/25/24 - 5/30/24 enters a raffle for a chance to win a PS5
- We are currently in a competition against the five highest attendance schools in middle school: Sunridge, Puentes, Ensor and Eastlake. The school with the highest attendance will receive the principals whos school lost the attendance change and they will be pied, assembly style the week of May 27.
Tardies.
Scholars will be counted TARDY when they enter the building after 8:00 AM and will result in lunch detention.
Fliers - please note fliers below for fundraiser opportunities, Latino Literacy Family Nights, and March Intersession (all Ravens are invited).
Online Store - Currently, taking orders for school merchandise. https://ravenstore.itemorder.com/
Raven Behavior Expectations - please review the poster below with your children and review the behavior expectations. Our Ravens are expected to be: Respectful, Responsible and Safe at all times in the hallways, bus, cafeteria, restrooms, and classrooms.
Student Instructional Calendar - Please see link to our revised instructional calendar for 2023-24 school year. The last day of school for our scholars is now May 30, and it will be an early release day.
Student IDs - All students need to have an ID to ride the Bus. They must check in as they enter and exit the bus. We have an app Ride 360 that helps us track routes and students aboard. Students without ID's may loose the privilege to ride the bus. All ID were distributed at the beginning of the school. If students lost them, they are $5 with our Librarian Ms. Nunez.
Student Drop Off and Pick Up - Please note regular instructional day drop off/pick up procedures, as a reminder that the only pick up and drop off area is on the west side of the building. This helps ensure the safety of all students at dismissal time and morning entrance. Also, please no Uber Eats or other food deliveries during the instructional day. Let's make sure students bring their lunch with them. We want to maximize instructional time and keep our school clear of traffic and safe. Thank you for your understanding.
March CKH Theme is Courage
What is Courage?
Courage is the ability and strength to face something that may be difficult or challenging. Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather perseverance in the presence of fear and the willingness to stand up for what is right or try something new even though it may be uncomfortable or uncertain.
Why focus on Courage?
- Courage encourages engagement. Courage helps students raise their hand, participate, try new things, and voice their opinions.
- Courage builds self-confidence. Courage is the choice to act. By doing something, students increase their belief in themselves and their ability to do difficult or challenging things.
- Courage can help reframe a negative. When something does not go as planned or a student gets upset about a mistake or failure, courage can help reframe the event in a positive light.
Courage in Action:
- Provide leadership opportunities. Students can learn and demonstrate leadership by teaching and mentoring others, classroom roles and responsibilities, or community outreach.
- Encourage discussion and debate. Foster curiosity and empower students to formulate ideas and engage in respectful discourse and conversations.
- Celebrate failures. Create opportunities to reduce fear of failure and celebrate when students try something new, even if they are not successful the first time.
Celebrating Courage in Our Community
I am inviting all students and parents to email me a picture with a short description of your family members who are serving as essential workers. I would like to spotlight those individuals on our school's social media and in our library's mobile screen in our school building.
Check us out on Twitter for some highlights. Some links can be found below. Lots of great things happening at @Eastlake_Middle for daily highlights.
Respectfully,
Gabriela Elliott, Proud Raven Principal

Gentle Reminder on Drop Off and Pick Up
Please note parent drop off and pick up is on the west side only. Visitor front parking is limited to handicap and those coming to front office. We have seen some parents picking up in the front. This poses a safety issue. We will be monitoring the front entrance again to ensure everyone is safe.
