Butler Cell Phone/SMART Watch/Personal Device Policy
When in school, personal student cell phone/SMART Watch/device usage are to be silenced and remain in backpacks during the school day. In some instances, students need their device to monitor health status through each day, and this will remain in place. However, should there be a need for any student/home communication, it will take place with the support of the teacher/school office during the school day. These district expectations have been shared with students, and we appreciate your support with your children as we navigate each school day.
We invite you to watch a short video as a reminder about the guidelines for student use of cell phones and personal electronic devices, including smartwatches, in our schools.

QUEST: Creative Concepts w/ Mrs. Augustine
Second grade students are busy coding with LEGO Essentials kits. The SPIKE Essentials coding kits help second grade students learn STEM concepts through hands-on building and simple block-based coding. Students build models with LEGO pieces and program them using visual coding blocks, which helps them understand sequencing, cause and effect, and basic computational thinking. As they test and improve their designs, they practice problem-solving and critical thinking. The kits also encourage teamwork as students work together to build and troubleshoot their projects.

School Happenings
Read Across America Spirit Week - 3/2-3/6
The first week of March was spent celebrating the joys of reading! For each day, classrooms held activities that celebrated books and the activity of reading for pleasure! Each day's theme connected to "camping" as we celebrated this reading initiative! We hope the children enjoyed the week's long activities!
Spirit Day Assembly - End of Trimester 2 - 3/13
We wrapped up the 2nd trimester with a fun and energetic Spirit Day assembly, celebrating the hard work, determination, and positive behavior shown by students. The assembly began with everyone proudly singing our Butler Elementary song, filling the room with school spirit. Laughter filled the air during a lighthearted teacher “laughing” contest that had students cheering along. We also enjoyed a slideshow highlighting the many events and memorable moments from the second trimester. It was a great way to recognize our students’ efforts and finish the trimester on a high note. Thanks to the Spirit Committee team and Mrs. Griffin for organizing our event.
Jared Campbell Music - School Assembly Program - 3/9
On Monday the 9th, we welcomed musician Jared Campbell for an engaging school assembly experience focused on positive character traits. Through energetic original songs about friendship, making good choices, doing the right thing, and working hard, he delivered meaningful messages in a fun and memorable way. Jared presented two separate shows - one tailored for our primary students and one for our intermediate grades. His performances were enhanced with a slideshow that visually highlighted the themes and lyrics of his songs. Both assemblies were well received and left students inspired and energized. Thanks to the Butler PTO for sponsoring this assembly!
5th Graders Travel to Harrisburg to Visit the Capital - 3/10
Fifth graders across the Central Bucks School District recently participated in the district‑wide social studies department writing contest Stories from Our Backyards, which received nearly 100 submissions showcasing students’ creativity, research skills, and connection to local history. Students wrote about both well‑known landmarks, such as the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle, and lesser‑known local sites, bringing these stories to life through thoughtful, well‑organized writing. Twenty‑one Butler Elementary students were selected to represent the school and traveled to Harrisburg with 5th Grade teacher, Mr. Kelly, to celebrate their work. During the trip, students visited the Civil War Museum and toured the Pennsylvania State Capitol, where they learned about government, history, and architecture. The experience concluded with meetings with local representatives, providing students a meaningful real‑world connection to their classroom learning.
Market Day - Butler 3rd Graders
Third graders recently wrapped up their Economics unit with Market Day! Throughout this unit, students learned about how goods and services are made and sold in our free market economy. They identified ways prices may change based on supply and demand and how businesses budget to try and make a profit. Using this knowledge, students worked together to design and create their own product to sell by using recycled materials, creating logos, slogans, and setting their own prices. On Market Day, students were able to put their knowledge into effect by becoming real world buyers and sellers! They used “money” to choose what they could afford to buy from other students and adjusted their own prices as their supply and demand fluctuated. It was such an exciting way to bring their economics learning to life!
