Congratulations to our TOMS Staff Member of the Week, Mrs. Leslie Rich!

She was nominated by Mr. Scott Dalton.

Mrs. Rich is a 6th Grade Science Teacher at TOMS and has been teaching here for 9 years -

since we opened!

My favorite memory of middle school was playing sports,

hanging out with my friends, and going on field trips.

My advice to my middle school self would be... Get involved, take pride in yourself, be a good listener, make your parents proud, and use your manners….you get more in life when you’re kind

The TOMS Jazz Band participated in their first-ever Concert Performance Assessment last weekend hosted by the South Carolina Band Directors Association, and we are proud to announce that under the direction of Mr. Jose Pope, our amazing musicians earned a perfect Superior rating!

This outstanding achievement reflects the dedication, hard work, and talent of our students and director. We couldn’t be prouder of this historic moment for the TOMS Jazz Band.

Congratulations, and remember—Success, Nothing Less!

TOMS 8th graders competed in the annual NHD Regional Competition today! This year’s theme, “Revolution, Reaction, and Reform in History,” challenged students to explore powerful moments that shaped our nation.

There were so many outstanding entries, and every student worked incredibly hard researching, creating, and presenting their projects. We are proud to recognize the students who advanced to the State Competition, where they will represent Ten Oaks and Horry County for a chance to compete at the National Competition!

The first day of Boys With a Purpose was both exciting and meaningful for everyone involved. Each participant had the opportunity to introduce themselves and share a little about their interests, hobbies, and personal goals.

We also completed a team-building exercise that encouraged the boys to think about the qualities that make a strong boy and future man. They wrote down words that reflected their values, including responsibility, loyalty, and good manners.

It was a great start to the program, and the activity helped set the tone for building character, teamwork, and leadership throughout our time together.

Thank you Mr. Brown and Mr. Carassco!

We have officially kicked off Kids Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association, and we need your help! We have until the end of March where students will be learning about heart health, helping others, and working to complete Finn’s Mission to become a lifesaver.

HERE’S HOW TO HELP:

Step 1: Sign Up Here: https://www2.heart.org/.../SPageNav.../ym_school_search.html

Step 2: Consider making a personal donation and be sure to share with friends and family through social media, text, or email.

Step 3: Complete Finn’s Mission by completing all the “steps” by clicking on the stepping-stone images to help your student earn the coveted lifesaver cape!

We’d love to see every student family learn the lifesaving skills of Hands-Only CPR and the warning signs of a stroke by signing up online and completing all 8-steps of Finn’s Mission.

Why we support the American Heart Association: When cardiac arrests occur outside of the hospital, bystanders only respond 40% of the time. 75% of cardiac arrests occur in the home. Providing Hands-Only CPR immediately can double or triple a person’s chance of survival.

In addition, our school earns givebacks that support our teachers, students, and our Physical Education department.

Thank you for joining us and helping our school community become lifesavers!

Dear TOMS Parents/Guardians,

In an effort to minimize classroom disruptions and maintain a focused learning environment, we are implementing a few new procedures effective immediately:

Lunch Drop-Offs

If a student’s lunch is dropped off at the front office, it will be placed on a designated cart near the security desk.

Students will not be called out of class to pick up their lunch.

Please remind your child to check the cart if they realize they do not have their lunch.

Other Item Drop-Offs

If other items (e.g., forgotten computers, books, clothing, etc.) are delivered for a student, an email will be sent to the teacher of the class the student is currently attending.

Teachers will check their email regularly throughout the day so students can receive their items in a timely manner.

Changes in Dismissal

Any changes to your child’s transportation home should be communicated prior to your student arriving at school.

Dismissal changes cannot be made over the phone after 2:00 PM to allow sufficient time to notify both the teacher and student.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

Boys With a Purpose Club is starting at TOMS!

Boys With a Purpose is more than a mentoring club — it’s a movement dedicated to encouraging young men to be their very best.

We teach practical life skills like:

How to tie a tie

Dressing for the occasion

Proper manners & etiquette

Character development

Confidence & leadership

Our goal is to positively mentor young men, build strong character, and help them truly believe that They Have a Purpose. When young men know their value, they move differently. They lead differently. They live differently.
