Hendrickson High School
Message from Principal Grebb:
Four more days! Four more days! Four more days!
That is all we have left in the 1st Nine Weeks of School. We had a great Homecoming Week, but it is far from over. We still have the football game tonight where we will crown the king and queen. Also at the game tonight it will be military appreciation and the band will do a pre game performance of their show. Don't lit a little rain scare you away. The HOCO dance is Saturday Night from 7 pm - 10 pm in the small gym and cafeteria. Thanks to everyone for showing so much school spirit this week. It was a lot of fun, but now we have to lock in to make sure our grades are looking good for the report card. Four hard days of work and then we reach the fall break. We need perfect attendance from everyone next week. Go Hawks!

Important Graduation Requirement: My Texas Future Direct Admissions
Dear Students and Parents/Guardians, Beginning with the 2026–2027 school year, Texas has a new graduation requirement related to My Texas Future and Direct Admissions. What is My Texas Future? My Texas Future is a Texas resource that helps students explore college, career, and postsecondary opportunities. Through the Direct Admissions Program, students can see Texas colleges and universities where they may qualify for admission based on their student information. What does my student need to do? To meet this graduation requirement, students must complete ONE of the following: Option 1: Participate in Direct Admissions OR Option 2: Opt Out of Direct Admissions Direct Admissions Opt-Out Form For students under 18, a parent/guardian must complete the appropriate authorization. Students who are 18 or older may complete the form themselves. A school counselor may also authorize a student to opt out in writing. Important! Students must complete one of these options to satisfy this graduation requirement. Choosing to participate in Direct Admissions does not mean your student has applied to college or must attend a college that contacts them. It is simply a way for students to learn about colleges where they may qualify for admission. Questions? If you have questions about this requirement or need assistance completing the process, please contact your student's school counselor. Thank you for supporting your student's college and career planning and helping them complete this important graduation requirement.
Students create or update their My Texas Future profile and choose to participate in the Direct Admissions Program.
Students may decline participation by completing the official Direct Admissions Opt-Out Form.

The FAFSA is OPEN!
THE FAFSA APPLICATION IS OPEN! Although the priority deadline is not until January 15th, 2027 for Texas Colleges, we encourage you to complete the application by October 31st, 2026. Applying by October 31st will assist you in receiving the most aid possible. The State of Texas requires all seniors from a public high school to complete the FAFSA in order to graduate (or opt out). More information can be found on the U.S Department of Education's website about who will assist the student in completing the FAFSA (which parent(s), etc), why it is important, and general tips. Please make sure to complete the 2027-2028 FAFSA (not the 2026-2027), as this is the year you will begin college. Once completed, the student will need to send me proof of completion. We ask that you upload the proof directly into Schoolinks. If you are unable to upload proof in Schoolinks, this can be done by sending a screenshot of the congratulations page or forwarding the confirmation email. The 2026–27 TASFA is not open yet. The TASFA (Texas Application for State Financial Aid) is for Texas students who are not eligible to complete the FAFSA and are seeking state financial aid.
Need support? Students will have access to the CCC to receive support to complete their side of FAFSA. IF needed. Parents can schedule individual appointments for help. Please reach out to Mrs. Spradlin to schedule.
Texas College Free Application Week- Apply Texas Opportunity
During the new Free Texas College Week (October 12–18, 2026), students can submit applications to Texas colleges using ApplyTexas www.applytexas.org at no cost. This is a great chance to explore college options and submit applications if you haven’t yet.
Recommendation: If financially possible, we highly encourage students to complete their college applications earlier through Common App www.commonapp.org. Applying early can give you more time to explore scholarships, financial aid, and ensure everything is submitted on time.
*Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch can receive a waiver for college application fees, so they don’t need to wait for Free Texas College Week to apply.
