REMINDER: It's Spirit Week this week! 🥳
Pajama Monday, Twin Tuesday and Pride Wednesday were lots of fun! Join us for K-Pop Demon Hunters Thursday and Fear Friday! (Please remind your child that Fear Friday is a dress up day, not a free pass to harass or scare our peers and staff. 😅)
REMINDER: Non School Days ✍🏻
I hope everyone has a safe, relaxing and fun Spring Break next week! Schools will be closed on Monday, March 23rd through Friday, March 27th. School will resume on Monday, March 30th.
Friday, April 3rd and Monday, April 6th are non school days for teacher grading & planning days. Quarter 3 report cards will be available to families on ParentVUE on Monday, April 20th at 8:00am.
Protect Richmond's Plants, Flowers & Gardens 🌷🌱🌲
Shoutout to our PTA Super Green Team for helping keep our school campus beautiful!
During their recent weekend Breakfast in the Garden event they reset the bricks in Mt. Mochi that were recently removed and broken during recess.
They also removed the fencing and trash from the planted area on Mt. Mochi, and we are hoping that the space is resilient enough to continue to thrive without the protection of a barrier.
Richmond families, we need your help!
The PTA Super Green Team is trying to add back a few more plants in the pollinators patch and other areas around the school. However, over the years these plants have been disappearing, and this year they are disappearing at an alarming rate! Sadly, so many plants that were established have been dug up.
Please talk to your child at home about the importance of not pulling or picking the flowers, plants or vegetation on our school grounds. Some of our students have talked to me about “weeding” the campus after school, so I had to remind them that although that is very sweet of them, everything planted is intentional and intended for enjoying with their eyes and noses only. 😊
Being Prepared For Spring Showers ☔
On extra rainy days our School Health Assistant Toby is busy with students needing dry clothes after splashing in puddles or standing under overflowing rain gutters during recess. As you can imagine, it's a bit challenging for our staff to prevent 100% of these behaviors at recess. Instead, we are asking our families to help with the following:
Dress your child for the weather - Layers are great and always bring a warm jacket and/or water-resistant outer layer.
Pack an extra outfit - If possible please send your child with an extra shirt, pants, socks, underwear, and shoes to keep in their cubby or locker.
Replace the extra outfit as needed - If your child comes home in their extra clothes please be sure to send your child to school with new clothes and shoes.
Donate gently used items for our Health Room - Donate gently used shirts, pants and shoes, or new socks and underwear for kids ages 5-11.
Thank you for supporting Richmond’s Health Room Team!
Social-Emotional Learning With Our Counselors 💝
Kindergarten students are learning about the qualities of a good friend, with the help of Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street friends.
1st Grade is reading Ravi's Roar by Tom Percival and discussing the parts of our brain that have to do with feelings and learning. We are discussing how to manage our big feelings when we go to the "red zone" and "flip our lids."
2nd Grade is discussing the difference between passive, assertive and aggressive communication. They will practice speaking up for themselves in kind and respectful ways.
3rd Grade is discussing the benefits of using "I statements" when resolving conflicts and practicing how to do so with given scenarios.
4th graders are discussing online influencers and their impact on what we think, feel and do. They are also exploring how to know if an influencer is a good role model.
5th graders are discussing internet chat safety. They learned these keywords:
- Red Flag Feeling: unease, discomfort or fear that indicates something might be wrong.
- Personally identifiable information: facts like real names, telephone numbers, addresses, school names, etc. that can be used to identify who we are and should not be shared online.

Richmond families! The weather is (sometimes) warmer. The flowers are starting to bloom. Spring is in the air! And the Lost and Found is full!! Please, send your child to the cafeteria to look for missing items, stop by the racks yourself to have a look, or email richmondptapresident@gmail.com and we will personally search for your lost jacket, gloves, water bottle, and more!

Looking Ahead:
We are also looking for a few people interested in taking the helm for next year’s Science Fair. It’s a well-oiled machine, and we’d love to "show you the ropes" during this year's planning so you feel confident leading the way in 2027.
Help needed to support Lunch Recess a week after the spring break!
Since it is a switching time for interns, there is one week when there is no intern at school.
Teachers need some support during the lunch recess duties at the playground. You can help make sure kids are safe while playing with any activities or with peers. Once the weather is nicer, and you would like to lead some games outside, it would also be great!
Please consider signing up to help teachers AND enjoy the time with your kiddos during the recess time HERE: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1hE3C8D__IeRvB6ydlNXECTz0WolKaaqgYz2Ob-K9CxI/edit?usp=sharing
