What makes OA Special?
There are many reasons that I believe OA is special, however I will highlight the main success of the school; our leader of Ocean Academy, Mrs. Heidi Curry. She has proven to be a visionary, her foremost thought is always about what is next for our high school and the direction we must go to ensure and provide quality education with the resources that are available. Mrs. Curry's decision making skills are excellent, she draws from what is happening around the world to support her claims and includes her team for any decision making. Her ability to delegate and communicate among the team is very efficient, facilitating teamwork and building trust.
What is a cause you are passionate about and why?
A cause that I am most passionate about is the sustainability and protection of Belize's natural resources. As a former Manager of a Marine Reserve and a Natural Monument, I have experienced first hand the provision and protection of Belize's resources and the ecosystems. As a former graduate of the Bachelor Degree Program in Natural Resource Management at University of Belize, I have extensive knowledge in the theoretical perspective and claims of the protection of our environment. Do you ever tell yourself, I want for my grandkids to know about and enjoy the delicious seafood such as conch, lobster and fishes. We must play our part in protecting and maintaining these resources for years to come as it supports the livelihoods of many individuals in Belize and boosts our economy as well. I have always been an advocate for the protection of the environment and I will surely do my best to convince and persuade others to do the same.

Halloween in Belize
In Belize, however, the Halloween tradition shadows North American’s Halloween with celebrations, festivities, extravagant and scary costumes, and of course trick-or-treating.
Island children, adults, and tourists all love to dress up and hit the streets in search of treats and to have some haunted island fun. There are ghosts, scary clowns, headless horsemen, witches, dead brides, zombies and vampires drifting around. Many restaurants host costume contests and have live entertainment. Some ghouls even dress up their pets!
