A Message From Mrs. Gabriela Elliott, Campus Principal

Greetings Ravens!

Only 4.5 days, before closing our second 9 weeks. Let's make them count and finish the semester Raven Strong!!

Power Hour has officially concluded for the semester. We will not hold Power Hour for December 11-15. Unless students have athletics practice, all are to report home right or bus stop after our after school bell at 3:30pm.

Attendance: Congratulations to 7th grade for being the grade level with the highest attendance this week with 96.71%!! Outstanding job Ravens!! 6th grade came in second with 96.48% and 8th grade came in third place with 93.72%. Overall attendance was at 95.77%. 8th grade, let's beat 6th and 7th grade. Our average attendance would be much higher. Let's strive for a minimum of 96% weekly please. We are soooo close to our goal. Parents, thank you for encouraging our scholars to be in school every day.... let's go for perfect attendance this week!! 7th Grade earned free dress for Monday!!! Woohoo!!! and keep in mind the Christmas dress up festivities too.

Backpacks: No Student Backpacks on December 15 please.

Buses: It is bus safety. Please speak to our Ravens about bus expectations and ensure they have a bus ID to check in and out of the route.

Capturing Kid's Hearts: Please read attached newsletter for our December Theme: Responsibility: Do Your Part.

What is Responsibility?

Responsibility is the willingness and ability to take ownership of our thoughts, words, and actions. We have a responsibility to our school, family, and community to be accountable for our choices and how they impact ourselves and others.

Why focus on Responsibility?

  • Responsibility teaches resilience. It is not possible to persevere and achieve our dreams without taking personal responsibility seriously.
  • Responsibility empowers us to own our actions. There is great power in being able to make conscious, calculated choices to reach goals and manage those things in our control.
  • Responsibility teaches us to manage our time and resources. Responsibly organizing and prioritizing needs is an executive function of the brain that improves with practice.

Responsibility in Action:

  • Give students roles and responsibilities. When students have a leadership role in class, they are accountable for contributing positively to the classroom culture.
  • Empower students with self-management tools. Provide students with tools to help manage stress and impulsivity while motivating them to meet goals.
  • Clearly communicate consequences. Empower students to make choices and experience the consequences of their actions, both positive and negative.

Dress code: Please ensure your child is complying with dress code policy. Free Dress and Jeans are used as incentives and rewards. Only students that have earned the reward are allowed to wear free dress or jeans. Dress code is being enforced.

Library Corner

We welcome all Eastlake MS students to become Raven Readers! Students are expected to check-out and read at least 4 books every marking period to support their literacy. To best encourage this, we provide a great selection of books students will be interested in picking for independent reading, including graphic novels!

The library is promoting different types of books through displays. We invite you to check them out!
