Morning Worship and Devotion
Daily Scripture Focus
Each morning we start the day with a time of singing and a word from scripture. Morning devotion time is a time for focus, learning, and putting God first in what we do each day.
The morning devotion is led by Mr. Yearwood most days, but there are also weekly opportunities for students and faculty members to lead.
Some of the scriptures used this week were:
- Matthew 6:19
- Titus 2:11-14
- Proverbs 16:9
- 2 Timothy 4:7
A Look Back at Last Week
Enjoying the Warm Temperatures
Students have been enjoying playing outside in the warm temperatures this week, but we know it will not last much longer! Next week looks like the colder weather will move in quickly.
Let's Pretend Hospital
1st grade students visited the Wallace State Community College Department of Nursing Education's annual Let's Pretend Hospital. This event is designed to ease children's fears about hospital visits and teach healthy habits.
PE Playtime
Every student loves PE playtime! Having this time each day helps reduce stress, improve motor skills, grow social skills, increase sportsmanship, and... it's fun!
Chapel Presentation
5th grade students were presented each with a New Testament Bible from the Gideons this week at chapel.
Missionary Partners
On Thursday, upper school students had the chance to hear from and learn more about the work Micah and Lyndsie Camper are doing in Uganda as missionaries. We are working on some possible projects for CCS students to help with for this ministry.
Learning Centers
Learning centers are a favorite activity for preschool students. Time to imagine, explore, and create is an important key to development.
Cards for Veterans
Over the last few days, students have been working on handmade cards for veterans. Some of these cards were donated to one of our local agencies. Many of them will be given to our guests on Monday at the Veterans Day Program.
Preparing to Honor Our Veterans
Students have been working on the Veterans Day Program. The program will include music, singing, scripture reading, and other tributes to our military service men and women. The program will take place on Monday, November 10th at 8:15 AM at Northbrook Baptist Church. Families, friends, and veterans in the community are invited to attend.
Experiment Time
Chemistry and Physical Science students enjoyed some lab time this week as they explored chemical bonds. This hands-on learning activity included creating various types of reactive gases (CO2, H2, O2, isopropyl alcohol vapor), all while practicing lab safety.
Helping Hands
Prepping and passing out hot lunches to a multitude of students takes some time, especially on pizza day! Thank you, PTF volunteers who help during these times to get the students served in a timely manner.
Model Presentations
9th grade biology students presented their creative animal and plant cell models.
Youth Leadership
These juniors and seniors are representing CCS this year in the Youth Leadership Development Program (YLDP). YLDP, with a focus on Faith, Character, and Patriotism, works to engage the next generation of young leaders.
Making Connections
Recently Senior, Abygail Robertson was chosen to be a host for the YLDP's annual "Lunch with Heroes" at the Birmingham Botanical Gardens. This week during her attendance at the event she was able to connect with Dr. Walsh, the founder of YLDP, and Dr. Scott from Troy University. As a stand out student leader, Aby has made important connections that have been an integral part of setting the stage for her post-secondary education opportunities.
Event Information
Parents, family members, and friends are always welcome on Tuesday mornings for a dedicated weekly prayer time. This meeting takes place in the lunch area at the Beech Campus immediately following morning devotion on Tuesdays.

Mission Emphasis and Serve Opportunities
For the past few years we have had Feed the Need in November both to raise money for the school and foster the mindset of “thankfulness and service”. This year we will be moving the fundraiser aspect to the late winter/ early spring. However, we would like to still use this month to teach our students gratitude through service.
Opportunities for service this month include:
- Veterans Day Program and Cards
- Food Drive for The Link (Lower School)
- Peanut Butter Drive for The Link (Upper School)
- Care Packages for Missionaries and Community Helpers (Details to Come)
- Upper School Serve Day on November 25th (Details to Come)
If you have connections to a local non-profit ministry that could use assistance, please contact Mrs. Wilkins or Mrs. Yearwood.
Preparing for Colder Weather
The weather forecast for next weeks shows much colder temperatures. Make sure to dress a little warmer. As a reminder, as per the student handbook, outerwear that is not uniform compliant may be worn outside, but should not be worn in the classroom.
