WETWANG CE PRIMARY SCHOOL

WEEK ENDING 25TH OCTOBER 2019

WETWANG CEPRIMARY SCHOOLWEEK ENDING 25TH OCTOBER 2019

'Learning and growing in the love of God.' (1 John 4:16)

NEW TOPICS AFTER HALF-TERM

We have arrived at the break after a long half-term. The children have been very enthusiastic and they make us proud every day with their determination, effort and skill. We are sharing our new topic titles here, but the teachers would like to keep the details of each a surprise as they have planned some exciting hooks to the new learning. We look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 4th November. Take care and have a peaceful holiday.

CLASS 3

LEARNING

Class 1 - FS2 children have learned to blend and segment sounds and practise writing them. Year 1s have been extending their sentences and editing and improving writing. Everyone in Class 1 loved their visit to KC Stadium and Soccer Kings to see where some real life superheroes work.

Class 2 visited the National Railway Museum where they learned about the importance of railways in Britain and the world. They were amazed by the 'Need for Speed' activity and the practical activity on aerodynamics was great fun.

Billionaire Boy was enjoyed by Class 3 at Hull New Theatre. They have completed their topic on Romans. Their knowledge and understanding of Boudica, gladiators and everyday life as a Roman is complete. Have you seen their amazing shields and read their brilliant narratives?

CHARITY SUPPORT

Our school is supporting the Royal British Legion with its annual fundraising initiative. Poppies, wristbands and other items are available in school should you or your child wish to make a donation.

We will be holding a simple act of remembrance at the memorial in Wetwang on 11.11.19. You are very welcome to join us at the church. (Meeting time TBC)

FUTURE CLUBS

Everyone of us is a global citizen and with this in mind we have decided to run a Debate Club after half-term in order to promote deep thought and interesting discussion about key national and international themes in the news. We would love to see your child attend. It will be during lunchtime and we are excited to hear their views about the world they live in and will eventually shape.

BIG QUESTIONS

We have being posing the children across our school a BIG QUESTION every week. These enable our pupils to reflect on their own beliefs and spirituality. We'd like to share them with you:

'How is Earth precious?'

'What makes a place of worship sacred?'

Perhaps you'd like to spend some time talking about these with your child. What do they think?

YOUR HELP

Mrs Gunn and Mrs Lang in Class 1 would like to collect plastic bottles to make a sculpture for Remembrance. If you'd like to help please wash them and bring them into Class 1. Many thanks.
