What A Great Week!!!

Hello Academy Parents and Guardians,

Get your fun day t-shirt. Middle School will participate for Fun Day this year 6th & 7th period on May 11th.

Progress Reports go home Wednesday, April 26, 2023.

The last day of After-School Tutoring in Friday, April 28, 2023.

We have several families dropping students off in the front of the school in the morning. This is a huge concern especially since this is the bus drop off. Please drop students off in the back of the school off of Trail Ridge. This is the best place for supervision and to keep the bus traffic following. Thank you!

Needed items for 6th Grade Science:

Sixth Grade Science classes are in need of cardboard shoeboxes. We are creating pinhole projectors for an end of the year project. Please send them in as soon as you can. Thank you!

Please email Ramona Calhoun if you do not have access to your child's grades and information in PowerSchool.

Please, Please, Please send in absence excuses. Please try to have your child in school daily. Everyday counts for learning success.

Three Piggy Opera- 1st Grade

Dear Parents,

The 3 Piggy Opera Musical is around the corner - April 25th. We will have two shows. One at 9:30 am and 1:30pm, so please come and enjoy this whimsical adaptation of the well known story.

Your child is getting ready for this production. Here are a few important details. The outfits for the boys are plain white T-shirts (no writings) and jeans. Girls are asked to bring Leotards with matching tights (pink, cream or brown). We will provide the tutus.

Thanks so much for your support.

Important Memo for Academy Families

Good Afternoon Academy for Academics and Arts Community,

HCS is continuing to roll out Evolv Technology, advanced weapon detection systems, to provide an additional layer of security to promote the safety of students and staff members. We are subject to have these systems at our school at any time, so we stress the importance of ensuring students are unable to access any items that may be potentially harmful to themselves and to others.

Please speak with your child about the updates below to our arrival procedures in the event we have these systems on campus. View video.

Drop Off and School Start Times

· Drop-off times and school start times will not change.

· Drop off will begin at 7:30 a.m.

· School will start at 8:00 a.m.

· We encourage families to drop off their students slightly earlier to provide them with a few extra minutes to get through the system.

· Guests will continue to report to the front office.

Where to Enter

· Car Riders: Enter through the back doors of the school.

· Bus Riders: Enter through the front doors of the school.

When Entering the Building

· Staff members will be on-hand to greet students as they enter and request them to remove any laptops and water bottles from their bookbags.

· Students will walk through the Evolv system one at a time in the lobby.

· While walking through the system, students should hold up their device and water bottle in each hand.

We thank you for your support, and we appreciate your partnership in promoting the safety of our students and staff members.

Very respectfully,

Kitrise Torain
