Second Grade Move-up Activities

In addition to a Move-up Day Picnic on Snapper Sneaker Day, 2nd graders and their caregivers have many opportunities to learn about the transition to Deer Hill. (Snapper Sneaker Day is 2 June and 2nd grade will participate at 10:00-11:00am. Then, we will host the move up day family picnic 11:00-11:45. More information to follow.) Below is information about additional transition activities:

Wednesday 5/28, 2:30-3:00: Deer Hill staff come to Osgood for a quick introduction to grade 2 students in their classroom

Friday 5/30, 1:45-2:30: Grade 2 students visit Deer Hill. They'll begin in the gym and then will take a tour of Deer Hill with a tour guide for each class. They'll end on the playground and walk back.

Tuesday 6/3, 6:00-7:00: A parent and caregiver (no children) informational night in the Deer Hill library (flyer above, please RSVP). This is the first time this has been in person since before COVID and will include a tour of the school!

We are thrilled to invite the South Shore community to our upcoming event, Let’s Talk: Understanding Adolescence with local expert and esteemed speaker Kevin Rosario. This informative session is scheduled for Thursday, May 22, 2025, at 6:00 PM at Cohasset High School. All are welcome!

Kevin Rosario is an experienced wellness advocate and the founder of Addiction Consulting and Education Services (ACES). With an MBA in Healthcare Management and over a decade of experience in the behavioral health field, Kevin has dedicated his career to helping teens and adults lead purposeful lives.

Kevin will share valuable insights on how to effectively talk with teens about making positive decisions, building self-esteem, developing refusal skills, and fostering healthy communication. This event is designed for parents, caregivers, and community members committed to fostering the well-being of youth on the South Shore and beyond. Learn strategies to help prevent the dangers of peer pressure, particularly related to vaping and substance use. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear the latest science on adolescence and gain practical tools for supporting the next generation!

Event Details:

  • Date: Thursday, May 22nd, 2025
  • Time: 6:00 PM
  • Location: Cohasset High School Auditorium, 143 Pond Street, Cohasset, MA

This event is free and open to the community. RSVP today at www.safeharborcohasset.org/letstalk. All attendees will be entered into a raffle to win an all-expenses-paid dinner for two at Alma Nove!

Purposeful Play & Responsible Risk Taking: May Challenge

Keeping up with our Anxious Generation purposeful play and responsible risk taking challenges, Mrs. Shannon invites you to join in on our May activities. This month, our challenges are:

Purposeful Play Challenge

Let's get creative this month! May is here and so are the flowers and planting season. Plant a garden together. Build the plan, head to the store together to pick out what you're going to plant, get messy in the dirt as you dig, and then watch as what you did together grows. Celebrate your success. Bonus points if you plant a new fruit or vegetable that your child tries as a new food once it's planted!

Responsible Risk Taking Challenge

This month let your child plan a solo adventure within safe boundaries according to their age. Let your child walk to a neighbor’s house, deliver a letter to the mailbox by themselves, ride their bike to somewhere of their choice, or stay home alone. Independence builds confidence!

Tell a Friend!

Please spread the word about kindergarten registration. The sooner folks register, the more we can share about kindergarten orientation and plan for a successful 2025-26 school year.

Safe Snack List

For the safety of all students, please use this list to choose snacks that are allowed at the Osgood School. We do have a nut free table in the cafeteria, so this guidance is just for snacks, which are most often eaten in classrooms. The list was generated to avoid having our school nurses check all students' snacks each day to be sure they are safe.

Please pack your child's snack separate from their lunch.

Transportation

For information regarding school transportation, please visit the transportation page on the new CPS website. All students must be registered through transportation to ride the bus. However, buses are full at this time and they are placing students on wait lists.
