At-A-Glance School Profile
Below is our 2024-2025 at-a-glance school profile.
We are making growth in many areas!
During the 2022-2023 school year TRDR was identified as a targeted school. School Identification shows the suggested level of support for schools under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). Schools can be identified for Comprehensive or Targeted support.
Based on our growth, we have been exited from this identification.
You can find more information HERE.
Fall Parent Survey
Please take a moment to complete our Fall Family Survey. After finishing the survey, send your student to school with the bright green slip of paper (these were handed out at conferences; a second copy will be sent home later this week) so they can be entered to win a prize.
End-of-Day and Student Pick-Up Practices at TRDR
At TRDR, we:
Know how each student gets home every day — by bus, walking, or parent pick-up.
Know which students we dismiss to the bus, which students walk home, and which walk to the back of the school for parent pick-up.
Verify that the adult picking up each student is on that student’s approved pick-up list in Synergy.
Ensure that any students who have not been picked up by 3:00 p.m. are walked to the bench outside the front office.
Confirm that when students are picked up during the school day, they are picked up only from the front office, and the front office verifies that the adult is on the student’s approved pick-up list in Synergy.
No Drama Llama
On December 8th TRDR will be visited by Ceasar the No Drama Llama!
Student Spirit Day : Dress for Winter Break Day

Otter Houses
This year at TRDR, we’re putting an Otter Family twist on a favorite tradition! Instead of making “Gingerbread Houses,” our students will be creating “Otter Houses.”
(Fun fact: an otter’s home is called a couch!)
We also want to acknowledge that food scarcity can be a real challenge for families, especially during this time of year. To ensure this Tier 1 event is accessible to everyone, TRDR will provide all supplies needed for the activity.
If your student brings materials from home,
we will kindly send them back with them—we’ve got everything covered.
We can’t wait to build some amazing Otter Houses together!

Alice Drills
Springfield Public Schools has annual safety training requirements, including what do for a dangerous intruder on campus. The way we train incorporates nationally recognized best practices. The training is called alert, lockdown, inform, counter, and evacuate (ALICE).
The ALICE method is the response protocol endorsed by many law enforcement agencies, including our local department. ALICE empowers individuals to use their best judgement by providing more options in the event of an emergency situation.
Springfield Public Schools has thoughtfully approached the overall implementation of ALICE practices. All staff go through the response procedures. Now it’s time to share ALICE with our students. Our team of administrators has reviewed and prepared age-appropriate curriculum to introduce or reteach the concepts of ALICE to our students.
To review a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ) about ALICE, visit https://www.springfield.k12.or.us/services/business/alice
Inclimate Weather
Please learn more about inclement weather procedures HERE.
Health Screenings
Student health screenings are coordinated by Springfield Public Schools (SPS) Health Services and performed each school year for grades K-8. SPS partners with the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation for vision and with the Community Health Centers of Lane County for dental. Please contact your school health aide if you do not want your student to participate in either of the health screenings.
Health screenings play an integral part in children’s development and well-being. Because childhood health problems can eventually develop into chronic adult conditions, screenings that students are given in school can help detect potential health problems and improve the overall health of every student.
Healthy students are better learners and routine checks ensure that they are healthy and fit so they can meet their full academic potential. School health screenings help in the early detection of health conditions. SPS collaborates with community partners to provide these screenings for grades K-8 each school year.
For vision screenings, the Oregon Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation uses the innovative Hillrom Welch Allyn Spot™ device to screen students. The device has the ability to reliably screen for several vision issues in a matter of seconds.
For dental screenings, hygienists take a quick look inside the student’s mouth looking for any obvious signs of dental issues.
Contact your school health aide if you do not want your student to participate in these health screenings.
Please consider being a parent volunteer on their screening day!

Springfield Schools has adopted guidelines for classroom snacks and parties to make certain that students receive healthy foods during the school day. We ask that families follow the guidelines for food that enters the building, whole class snacks, treats for birthdays, and other special occasions. While we will not monitor individual student snacks from home, we do hope that we can have your support by providing healthy snacks and lunches for your children at school. If you want more information visit the Nutrition Services page at https://www.springfield.k12.or.us/services/nutrition
