NCDPI K-12 Math Standards Review and Feedback
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction’s K-12 Math Team is excited to announce the release of the first draft of proposed revisions to the K–12 Math Standard Course of Study. As required by NC State Board of Education policy, NCDPI is formally collecting feedback from educators, administrators, parents, students, institutions of higher education, business and industry representatives, national organizations, and other education agencies.
Families are invited to review the draft standards and share feedback through the statewide survey.
You may choose any grades or courses you wish to review.
You may select as many areas as you would like to provide input on.
Please submit all survey responses by 5:00 PM EST on Monday, December 8, 2025.
Survey Purpose:
The feedback collected will help inform any additional revisions to the draft standards. Revisions may include changes, clarifications, additions, deletions, or replacements based on stakeholder input.
A newly formed group of dedicated individuals has organized a plan to help feed those in need on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning Thursday, November 6, 2025, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. at the County Office Building Auditorium.

PCS Attendance Initiative Every Minute Counts!
Every Minute Counts! Attendance matters now more than ever. Chronic absenteeism—missing 10% or more of the school year, regardless of the reason—puts students at academic and social risk. Research shows that even in early grades, frequent absences can make it hard to read on grade level, stay engaged, and ultimately graduate on time.
Our district, like many others nationwide, has seen an increase in chronic absences since the pandemic. As partners in education, we ask families to help us prioritize attendance by scheduling appointments outside of school hours, keeping routines consistent, and reaching out when challenges arise.
Together, we can ensure every child is present, supported, and ready to succeed—because every minute truly counts.

Piedmont Community College Calendar
We align with the traditional school calendar with PCS; the first day for students is Monday, August 18, 2025. PCSVA utilizes the Google Workspace platform where teachers will instruct using both Google Meet and Google Classroom. Students enrolled in grades 9-12 also participate in courses through NC Schools of Science and Math. Courses for students who are enrolled at PCC will begin on Monday, August 18, 2025. PCSVA courses are asynchronous on Wednesdays.
Our program is designed to focus on effectively providing a high-quality, virtual learning environment for all students and we ask that families commit to being enrolled for the entire school year. Student engagement is critical in the virtual learning environment; therefore, students will be expected to keep their cameras on during synchronous (live) instruction with their teachers and peers. Attendance will be taken based on this policy. There will also be opportunities daily for students to work asynchronously and having parent/family support is strongly encouraged.
While we are able to instruct our students virtually, all district and state-mandated assessments will need to be conducted in person onsite at our location. Assessment schedules and detailed instructions will be provided in advance of each district and state-mandated assessment for 6-12 students.
