Hoyne Happenings
Happy Monday!
It was great to see everyone on Thursday and Friday! I hope that everyone enjoyed a few extra days and stayed warm! This week we will wrap up our iReady testing. We appreciate your support in helping students be well rested and ready to do their best. This assessment provides teachers with valuable information to help make instructional decisions. Friday also marked the end of the marking period and families can expect to be able to view report cards in Power School on February 10th.
Wednesday night, January 29th, this week will be our first ever International Night. We are excited to have almost 20 tables representing countries all over the world. This event will take place in the Pembroke gym from 6:30 - 7:30. We hope to see you there!
Students and staff are excited for their final Fun Run incentive, a Wacky Science assembly! This Friday the PTA is sponsoring this assembly for all students. We can’t wait for the fun!
Have a great week!

GSRP/PreK For All Interest Form is Now Open
Families interested in enrolling their child in the GSRP/PreK-For-All program for the 2025-2026 academic year are REQUIRED to complete the online interest form, which will be made available on the district’s website starting Jan. 6. Data collected from the online form will be utilized to help district leadership determine program locations.
The GSRP PreK-For-All program is a free, grant-funded program for four-year-old children. Upon completion of the online interest form, families will receive additional information regarding class placement and enrollment details after Monday, Feb. 3.
Attendance & Sickness Policy
Please contact the Pembroke Attendance Line if your child will be late or absent. You can leave a message at 248-203-3888 Option 2. Or email Tracy Longe at tlonge@birmingham.k12.mi.us.
If your child will be absent for 4 days or more - please complete an extended absence form and submit to the Pembroke Main Office or email to Tracy Longe.
Friendly reminder on the Pembroke Sickness Policy:
- 24 hours Fever & Vomit Free with no medications!
- If your child has cold symptoms and requires cough drops, please send cough drops to the office with a note giving permission to provide them to the student.
- Absences with a doctor's note are excused
Cold Weather Reminders
As the weather changes and is getting wetter and colder, here are a few friendly reminders!
- ·Label, label, label! Label every jacket, hat, glove, and mitten! We can easily empty out our lost and found if we know who it belongs to.
- We go to play outside unless it is below 10 degrees (including wind chill) so please send your child with cold-weather items suited for the temperature.
- When there is snow on the ground students need boots and snow pants in order to play on the field and playground equipment.
Parking Lot Reminders
- If your child needs assitance getting out of the car, we ask that you park in a spot and walk your child to the building. Please do not get out of your car in the drop off line as it creates a back-up in the drop off line.
- We ask that families pull as far forward as possible before letting students out of the car.
- If you are parking at pick-up, it is helpful if you pull around the lot and fill the spots closest to the front first.
- If possible, after you have dropped off your students, pulling forward and merging towards the front of line is also helpful in keeping the flow of traffic moving.
Thank you in advanced!
