Military Monday Fun Facts Announcements 2025
April is Military Child Month where we take the time to appreciate and celebrate military children and families for their dedicated service and sacrifice. Every Monday we will have Military Monday Fun Facts announced.
Here’s our Military Fun Facts for you to enjoy:
Did you know...?
Deborah Sampson became a hero of the American Revolution when she disguised herself as a man and joined the Patriot forces. She was the only woman to earn a full military pension for participation in the Revolutionary army. She received an honorary discharge on October 23, 1783.
Did you know...?
The army is older than the country itself. George Washington led the first continental army in June of 1775. This means that our army predates our country by more than one year.
Did you know...?
The Army is Responsible for creating Ray-Bans. In order to help pilots in the U.S Air Force block the rays of the sun and reduce nausea and headaches while flying, Lieutenant General John MacCready asked Bausch & Lomb to create special glasses for them to wear. The result, Ray-Bans!
Did you know...?
The U.S. Army was in charge of exploring and mapping America. The Lewis and Clark Expedition was an all-Army affair. Army officers were the first Americans to see such landmarks as Pike's Peak and the Grand Canyon.
Did you know...?
America has declared war 11 times. Although the US has been at war for only 93% of its existence, we’ve only formally declared war 11 times. These include 5 separate conflicts: the War of 1812, War with Mexico, the Spanish-American War, World War I and World War II.

Wear Purple in honor of Purple-Up Military for Military Children.
Join us in wearing purple to show support for all the military kids for the strength and sacrifices that they have made. Purple represents the joint service operations and is a combination of Army Green, Air Force Blue, Space Force Blue, Coast Guard Blue, Marine Red, and Navy Blue; it is the appropriate color to represent military children from all branches.

Dress in Camouflage
To camouflage is to disguise, and a camouflage is that which disguises — like the leaf-colored and patterned uniforms worn by soldiers who want to blend in with their natural surroundings.

Wear Your Favorite Travel Destination Shirt
Deployment destinations is the movement of military units or individual service members to locations and destinations outside of the continental U.S. and its territories for the purposes of accomplishing specific missions. Contrary to popular belief, not all deployments are combative in nature. Service members can also make an impact by being deployed on peacekeeping missions,
citizen evacuations, joint training exercises and even bolstering security at
U.S. high commissions and embassies abroad.
Deployment destinations can last from
anywhere between 90 days and 15 months, and there are no limits to the number
of times that active-duty members can be deployed.
